In the post the above lines were in reference, now we see further what Goswami Tulsidas tells.

Once upon a time, in Treta Yug* Bhagwaan Shiv went to visit Rishi Kumbhaj along with Maa Sati* Bhavani, the mother of all in the world as being in marriage with Shambhu the Adidev (the deity which is unborn hence eternally there). Rishi Kumbhaj, knowing Shiva as Lord of all universe performed rites in worship of Shiv and then narrated Ram Katha which Shiv listened with pleasure and attention. We should know here that Shiv himself has been the one who conceived of Ram Katha and still was happy to listen again from another(I told you earlier too that since Ram Katha has immense scope of being told in very many ways covering very many aspects and hence Shiv does not consider him to be the sole author of it and wishes to listen from other enlightened people as well). After telling what Rishi Kumbhaj had on occasion in his mind regarding Ram Katha, he wished to learn from Shiv the Hari-Bhakti i e things like what and how can Hari-Bhakti or say Ram Bhakti be gained, increased etc which Shiv Shambhu explained in detail considering Kumbhaj Rishi an ideally deserving person. The Ram Gungatha (glories of Ram) remained the subject of discussion between the two for a few days while Shiv, the lord of Kailash Parvat stayed there.

Bhagwaan Shiv eventually taking leave from Kumbhaj Rishi decided to go home along with daughter of Daksha (word meaning of Dakha is some body who is an expert in his field)Maa Sati. While in journey towards home Shiv saw with help of his third eye that Lord hari had taken Avtar with a purpose to reducing the burden of earth caused by the Rakshasas (demons) by eliminating them, in the Raghuvansh as Ram. He also saw that in course of His Leelas, Ram was in Dandak Van (a forest in middle of Indian sub-continent), wandering in keeping the word of His father and leaving the kingdom behind and as a commoner no more interested in king’s functions. All this even when Ram is the God Himself who has no end and neither a beginning (one may wonder that how is it that Ram Katha is already a subject which people discuss and discover many things through it and yet Ram is born later, though it is a valid question that comes up to mind but it is essential to know for us that Ram comes as an Avtar in every cycle of time consisting of four Yugas , in Treta Yug i e in next after the first that is Sat Yug. It is therefore no wonder that Shiv Himself, an ageless Supreme being, is aware of Ram Katha).

Lord Shiv is in dilemma as to how he may have Darshan (glimse)of Hari as Lord Ram who is his Isht (most loved and desired of the forms of Lord Hari as a choice for a Bhakta). He is reluctant to be interfering in his Leelas by openly trying to do it as then all in world will know who is He while He has descended on earth, with a certain plan of Leelas to fulfill many an objects for the pleasure of His Bhaktas, in an unannounced way. Tulsi says that the love for Ram in heart of Shiv on one hand and on the other the delicacy of maintaining the secret of Ramavtar, Bhagwaan Shiv is perplexed. Three things i e greed for His Darshan, fear of interference in divine plan and eyes demanding to have the pleasure of His human form as Ram are in conflict. All these three things carry too much weight and there seemed to him no solution in sight. This turmoil in mind of Shiv is not reflecting in mind of Maa Sati although as a consort of Shiv, she should have an ability to get the inkling of such matters. There is more to say on this score but leave it now for time being.)

* Maa Sati was married to Shiv before she was married to Shiv as Parvati in her next birth. This story will come later in our journey covering Ram Katha.
