Ramcharit Charcha XCII

II Shree Guruvey Namah II

Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

The gods led by Brahma came to Shiv and after prayers offered in Shiv’s honor they expressed their solemn wish enjoy marriage of Shiv. This was discussed in last post which rested with Doha 88.

Continuining with  emotional out bursts Brahma requests Shiv calling upon him as destroyer of pride of Madan (Kaamdev, its word meaning is ‘the one who imparts intoxication’ ) do whatever is required so that he and other gods may have eyeful glimpses of this celebration. He then recounts that it was good that Shiv was pleased to grant boon to Rati after annihilation of Kaamdev, addressing Shiv as Kripasindhu (ocean of mercy). Brahma speaks of Shiv’s graceful act shown towards Kaamdev, saying that it is but natural for the masters to shower graces after the needed punishment  (as they do so not out of vengence but as an act of keepig the distracted subjects under them on right track).

Brahma then related the Tapa of Parvati which is beyond estimate and requested Lord Shiv to accept Parvati now Shiv has already committed to Ram of which gods are not aware and the request of gods being in agreement with His will, Shiv happily told Brahma that his request will be acceptable to him .

(Shiv felt happy that he will be acting according to will of God while he is going to accept entreaty of Brahma and there is no conflict. It means that we should be pleased only to do some thing that already has sanction of God otherwise conflict will set in and goal itself will be difficult to be achieved. Marriage is an act of expending the realm of desires because one takes responcibily of another and commits to do acts for this other person’s pleasure too and Shiv is above the lure of worldly pleasures yet he has readily committed to get married, this suggests that one’s own principles etc are OK but only so far as one is not too arrogent to even not be willing to act according to God’s will. This therefore clear that no extraordinery insistance on what one has resolved is required if the Master’s will has to be acted upon. )

The gods rained down flowers and resorted to drum beating and hailed Shiv who was thw first of them and was their master. The Seven Seers reached there considering it an appropriate ocaasion who then sent Brahma to the mountain abode (of Himvan). There after Rishis went to where Parvati was resting and spoke deceptively in sweet words that Parvati did not give weight to their words and result has been that Mahesh Shiv has burnt the god of love, and that her paying heed to what Narad said has brought about this situation. Since Mahesh has burnt Kaamdev natuaraaly Shiv would not be get inclined to get marries and in this way her own vow would fail to stand chance of success. We will see how Parvati reacts to their mischievious utterings in next post. We have covered upto Doha 89 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Goswami Tulsidas, our Pranaams to him!
