Ramcharit Charcha XCIII

II Shree Guruvey Namah II

Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

The Seven Seers were conversing with Parvati in lighter vien about Kaamdev and resulting possibilities, this was when we came at point ending with Doha 89 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Goswami Tulsidas, in the last post. This coincides with the third resting point for those who wish to cover whole reading of Manas in one month. Let’s relish further the interesting conversation between Parvati and Rishis.

Parvati showing no anxiety as to what Rishis said and smilingly told them that the Munis who do possess some deep knowledge but still think that Lord Shiv has burned down Kaam only now, do they imply that so far Shiv Shambhu has been corruptible by impulses of lustful desires. Parvati tells Rishis that she has known Shiv as a Yogi (who is never without thought centred on God) and also that Shiv is never born i e eternally there (unbegotten), irreproachable, without passion and never intent on cheap enjoyment.

Parvati says, “if she has served Shiv with this knowledge about him, with fullest love in deed, thought and word then O Munis : the gracious Isha (Shiv) will make my vow stand accomplished. Your contention that Har (Shiv, word meaning of Har is one who takes away) has burned Kaamdev is a mistaken belief bordering on lack of discrition on your part.Shiv’s disposition is such that Kaam will lose effect whenever it gets in company of Shiv, it is like snow/frost losing form and getting destroyed as soon it gets near fire, similar is the case between Shiv and  Manmath (Kaamdev, the word itself means one who has capacity to churn tranquility of mind).”

These words of Parvati gladdened heart of Rishis who then believed that Bhavani Parvati has unwavering love for and profound faith in Shiv, hence they bowed down their heads before Bhavani and proceeded towards Himanchal.

(Parvati has shown her depth of understanding and firmness in belief  and this has now naturally come to her due to long period spent in rigourous Tapa. Even the great seers failed in their attempt to misguide though just for an exmination, Parvati has successfully crossed the points that would have weakened any body. As Sati she had tried to test God himself, a sign of misplaced wisdom but this time she was subjected by Shiv himself to a severe test through Rishis but has come out with flying colors. The thoroughness comes with spending some perion in penance and not just by getting to know superficially the knowledge told and listened in a passing manner.)

We have covered upto the Doha 90 of Balkand of Manas by Tulsi, let’s be thankful to him for giving us the taste of Ram Katha in a beautiful way!
