II Shree Guruvey Namah II

Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

After interacting with Parvati and pleased with what Parvati told them, the Rishis left for meeting Himvan, we learnt of this in last post which covered upto Doha 90 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Goswami Tulsidas. We now pursue the rest of story of marriage of Parvati with Shiv in our journey through Ram Katha.

The Rishis told whole episode to Girpati (master of mountains Himvan, father of Parvati) who felt remorseful listening about burning down of Madan (Kaamdev) but when Haimvan learned of the boon given to Rati he felt relieved. With thoughts of status of Shiv among gods, Himvan called Munis on his side who acertained the right date, asterism and the hour and following the Vedic percept noted down it down with attendent rituals . The letter thus prepared was then handed down to Rishis with due honor and request for being taken to Brahma on Shiv’s side. Brahma got overwhelmed reading it and Lagan (the letter of invitaion and wedding date etc) was then read aloud for the benefit of rest of the gods. The gods and other Munis present there rejoiced, flowers were showered and musical instrument began spreading pleasent tunes in celebration. Plenty of auspicious Kalash ( round shaped jars filled with holy water) were then put in all directions observing the ritualistic commands which bring good fortune.

Now gods started adorning their own respective vehicle and crafts of different kinds, the auspicious omens appeared and Apsaras ( the celestial damsels) started singing and dancing adding color to celebrations.

(The fixation of marriage of Shiv and Parvati is such that would place with every body fully endorsing it and it is after an intense love of the would be bride Parvati for her husband and after full conviction of Shiv that his life partner would not be unhappy with him and wouldn’t like to cross paths with him as was the case with Sati. The whole society of Shiv i e kingdom of gods, is interested in this marriage and the family of the bride has shown its perfect acceptability. The wit and wisdom of both the partners in marriage is matching, none of them is prone to getting lured by cheap things costing the marriage heavy price. There are no specific demands or conditions, the union is going to be all natural and for good of society, even slated to specifically benefitting it as the son born out of this marriage will be seeing end of a demon troubling the gods and the world. Such marriage is a cause of celebration for every one, it has even will of God behind it and is blessed by Munis and Rishis, it will be performed with wide participation and as per the Vedic customs. Such marriages are in fact desirable marriages.)

We have now covered upto Doha 91 of Balkand.
