जौं मो पर प्रसन्न सुखरासी। जानिअ सत्य मोहि निज दासी।।
तौं प्रभु हरहु मोर अग्याना। कहि रघुनाथ कथा बिधि नाना।।
जासु भवनु सुरतरु तर होई। सहि कि दरिद्र जनित दुखु सोई।।
ससिभूषन अस हृदयँ बिचारी। हरहु नाथ मम मति भ्रम भारी।।
प्रभु जे मुनि परमारथबादी। कहहिं राम कहुँ ब्रह्म अनादी।।
सेस सारदा बेद पुराना। सकल करहिं रघुपति गुन गाना।।
तुम्ह पुनि राम राम दिन राती। सादर जपहु अनँग आराती।।
रामु सो अवध नृपति सुत सोई। की अज अगुन अलखगति कोई।।
दो0-जौं नृप तनय त ब्रह्म किमि नारि बिरहँ मति भोरि।
देख चरित महिमा सुनत भ्रमति बुद्धि अति मोरि।।108।।

In the last post we got to know how Parvati approached Shiv to ask of Him the detailed Ram Katha and gave Him idea about her confusion regarding Ram; we covered up to Doha 108 in Balkand of Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas.

Parvati remains on the subject of her inquiry and tells Shiv, “If Ram is the very same desireless, all-pervading, opulent and powerful supreme master then O Lord, tell in a way that I may understand. You know me as one without a solid understanding about it hence be not enraged in your heart and do what is required to remove my ignorance.

“I saw Ram in forest and got an idea about His predominance which made me awe-stricken and this fact I did not reveal to you then (again the message is to not keep any thing back from Guru and superior). My polluted mind failed to grasp the importance of it all and got what I got (by way of destruction of my body which you found not fit for keeping company with any more (here mind also is part of body, the subtle body while soul is different and is above getting maligned and remains pure, it may get covered by the covering of false impressions but essentially remain pure).

“Though I have now better understanding yet there remains a shadow of doubt hence I beseech you to very kindly to help out in its removal.

“It is not that you had not tried to give me various instructions (which failed to help then), with this background shed your anger, if any, and do the needed i e tell me again Ram katha (in entire detail explaining so that a person of my ability may absorb the essence of it).

“I do not have as much delusion now as had clouded my good senses and I have now developed special interest in my heart for Ram katha. O lord of immortal gods, you have king of serpents Sheshnaag round your neck as ornament, please recount all those sacred stories which explain virtues of Ram (Ram Gun Gatha).”

(King of serpents Sheshnaag has innumerable of mouths hence it is symbolically meant by Parvati that if the Ram Katha has immense dimensions the thousands of mouths at your command may cover much of it.)

In course of finally surrendering at the feet of Shiv, Parvati tells Him, “I completely bow down my head near your feet touching the ground and pray with hands joined that You explain import of Ram which has vast proportions extracting the principles of Vedas (i e duly giving me an idea of principles relating them to specific Ram Leelas so that I may retain them by absorbing Ram katha which I am going to recall time and again for my refreshment of heart and mind).”

(The Ram Katha is more important then the knowledge given in Vedas because the dry knowledge without an anecdotal container is hard to retain, the human psyche can better understand a principle by example and more so with examples connected through an underlying theme. It is on this account that the Sanatan Dharmies keep referring to complex principles in course of ordinary talk by picking the relevant portion of Kathas given in Puranas. Even a child then has good idea of those principles to the extent of applying them in life lived.)

We have now covered up to Doha 109 of Balkand.

जौं अनीह ब्यापक बिभु कोऊ। कबहु बुझाइ नाथ मोहि सोऊ।।
अग्य जानि रिस उर जनि धरहू। जेहि बिधि मोह मिटै सोइ करहू।।
मै बन दीखि राम प्रभुताई। अति भय बिकल न तुम्हहि सुनाई।।
तदपि मलिन मन बोधु न आवा। सो फलु भली भाँति हम पावा।।
अजहूँ कछु संसउ मन मोरे। करहु कृपा बिनवउँ कर जोरें।।
प्रभु तब मोहि बहु भाँति प्रबोधा। नाथ सो समुझि करहु जनि क्रोधा।।
तब कर अस बिमोह अब नाहीं। रामकथा पर रुचि मन माहीं।।
कहहु पुनीत राम गुन गाथा। भुजगराज भूषन सुरनाथा।।
दो0-बंदउ पद धरि धरनि सिरु बिनय करउँ कर जोरि।
बरनहु रघुबर बिसद जसु श्रुति सिद्धांत निचोरि।।109।।
