We covered up to Doha 127 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned how Narad Muni went up to Lord Shiv and related the story of visit of Kaamdev and his own restraint that kept him from getting angry at Kaamdev which Shiv advised him to not say before Lord Hari in any eventuality.

Yaghyavalkya tells Bhardwaj that whatever Ram (as Supreme God) wishes only happens, no body has power to deflect it in any other way hence the advice by Lord Shiv fell on deaf ears of Narad Muni who hadn’t been pleased with the advice of Shiv, Narad then went to Brahmaji, the creator, to tell the same story.

Once, holding his flawless Beena (lute) and singing glories as an expert, Narad Muni set on course to reach the Ksheersindhu (the ocean of milk) where Lord Shriniwaas (Vishu, with whom Lakshmiji remains together) who is also the crown of Vedas (essence of Vedas), stays. Ramaniketa (in whose heart Rama lives and who lives in heart of Rama such Lord Vishnu) rose up to receive Muni Narad seeing him coming there with natural cheerfulness and set down together with him (it is only the Bhaktas that Lord Hari ever gets up, no body else deserves a treatment like this from Him).

The lord of all, moving and unmoving lives (plants and animals) spoke with smile mixed with sarcasm, ” O Muni, it has been a long time since you have kindly showed up (to say that Muni has kindly visited Him is to speak sarcastically as even Bhaktas are not supposed to be kind to Him, its only Him that others may look up to Him for kindness).”

Muni Narad in spite of having been forbidden to do so, detailed to Lord Hari all that had transpired between him and Kaamdev (Narad did not even wait to first exchange niceties with Lord Hari because he was under spell of ego and forgot that the winning Kaamdev i e to rise above carnal desires is only possible with lord’s grace).

This attitude of Narad reflects that the Maya of Rghupati Shri Ram (as Supreme God) is over bearing, it has not spared any body from having false illusions (whenever one is not alert and nurses ego centric thoughts, in other words the lord’s name is not being remembered and mind is left free to wander).

Shri Bhagwan Vishnu brought impression of being unhappy i e without a trace of smile on face, spoke with chosen soft words that Muni Narad, it is due to remembrance of you that one can counter the attack of desires, delusions, ego and pride (such is the effect of egoistic pride on the mind of Narad that he hasn’t read the body language of Lord Hari and is enjoying His words at face value while he is no ordinary person but a devoted Bhakta of Lord Hari but is careless at the moment taking his response to Kaamdev as a great achievement while it only has propped up his ego which has brought to this kind of behavior in presence of Lord hari Himself).

We have now covered up to Doha 128 of Balkand.
