We covered up to Doha 134 of Balkand in Rmachrit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Muni Narad is sitting in the midst of suitors of princess under wrong impression of having become as charming as Lord Hari but in fact has been given a face like money and the two Ganas of Lord Shiv are making fun which he in not able to understand the reason of and the princess hasn’t been appreciative of the presence of Narad there.

The princess didn’t glance back again in the direction of Narad where he was sitting holding his head high; this made Narad uncomfortable and constantly restless, observing this condition of Narad the two Ganas of Har (Shiv) became thrilled.

Right at that moment merciful Lord Hari manifested there assuming form of a worldly king and the princess put the garland that she was holding, around the neck of Lord Hari. Laxminiwas (a one whose heart is resting place of Laxmi) picked up the bride (who was none other than Laxmi as Maya, the princess). The entire community of kings became dejected (it only usually happens that the so called powerful people think that they can claim ownership of all the riches (Laxmi) which in fact belongs to God only, what they get is all unstable illusory and unreal impression of the real Laxmi who will always remain with Lord Hari as His permanent Mayic power).

This event made Muni Narad all the more upset and delusion blunted his mental faculty; Narad felt as if the Mani (a very valuable precious and rare stone that is shed by a serpent of a particular variety) tied by him around his waste has dropped. The two bemused Ganas of Har who were continuously keeping close watch approached Narad and told , “why don’t you go and see your face in a mirror” and ran away fearing greatly (that they may have invited wrath of Narad by saying this stark fact).

Muni Narad then looked at his face reflected in a settled water body and when noted how he looked he became overly charged and he cursed the two Ganas badly, saying, “you two would become Nishachar (the bad character who roam about in night) as you are cheaters and sinners. You have been making my fun hence it is your punishment that will keep you from making any fun ever of any Muni” (we should note that Narad has cursed them to become all the more like those who rejoice by troubling the noble people in the world while he is saying that you would not have no occasion to trouble the Munis, this is how the disturbed mind works).

(What is also noteworthy here is that the failure of Narad in getting the hand of princess has resulted in an uncontrollable anger which has made him so unreasonable that who have told a reality about him have become his enemy. The behavior of the two Ganas was also not all justified for they could have come forward even earlier and told the Muni what was the case really if they had any concern for a misguided person of high repute but they acted unduly by making fun. When they told the fact they did it not out of duty but to see the person in further anguish. They got punishment for what wrong they did but on the other hand Muni Narad was not justified in cursing them as whatever the intention the two, they had in fact been instrumental in saving Narad from any further disgrace and making him realize where he actually stood. Instead of being indebted for getting this knowledge which was eluding him, Narad could not take right course, all because the desire centric thinking was still being nursed by him. We know of many similar situations in our own life when we are told about by our weaknesses. Under force of our emotional flows we do not see thing as they are and go overboard. We should give serious thought to the Narad episode and weed out all such fault which made Narad become foolish, angry and disturbed on account of giving too much weightage to false ego at one stage of success which pushed him in to vortex of problems.)

We have now covered up to Doah 135 of Balaknd.
