We covered up to Doha 137 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Muni Narad tried to blame Lord Hari for his failure but in the process told many eternal truths about Him too, then he cursed Lord Hari who in turn said some pleasing things to Narad and also accepted the curse. Lord Hari eventually broke the spell cast, by His Maya on Narad Muni, out of his love and grace.

When Muni Narad got done with Maya centric thinking by grace of Lord Hari, he saw that there was no Rama or the princess there (and came to realize that how much he had drifted in the world of passions and likes/dislikes while he had resolved to only go along the paths leading to Lord Hari).

With a sense of fear Muni Narad grabbed the feet of Lord Hari (who alone was there now) saying, “O Lord You are capable of taking care of the woes of suppliant, I wish that my curse may not have any effect (Muni Narad has now recollected that Lord Hari does not let the words of Bhaktas and Vipras become untrue, hence pleaded like this)”. Lord Hari, the one who remains merciful towards the humble, responded by saying that it is His will only (God reminded Muni Narad that its His will only that prevails beyond what is granted to Jeevas as personal choice in any given circumstances, over the circumstances jeevas do not have any control).

Muni Narad is now worried that he spoke such bad words to Lord Hari and asked the Lord how his sins are going to be undone. Listening this Lord Hari told Muni Narad, “you may go now and do Japa taking hundred different names of Lord Shiv, this way you will regain composure in your heart, mind, intellect and conscious self (the hundred names of gods represent different qualities/virtues of theirs, when these names are repeatedly taken these have such effect on psyche and a disturbed minds get relief due to understanding that before whom the Bhaktas has surrendered is strong and able to bring him out of troubles).

Lord Hari further says, “there is no body as dear to me as Lord Shiv, you should not let your beliefs shaken in any circumstances. Those who do not please Lord Shiv and therefore do not get his blessings, surely do not get my Bhakti too (Muni Narad had earlier not given heed to what Lord Shiv had once told him i e to not speak of his triumph over Kaam, even to Lord Hari, this is the reference here for Narad). It is time now that you go back and roam about on earth (the Sanyasis are not supposed to stay more than one night in one place so that they do not develop any tying relationship with people and places, besides they are able to propagate the Lord’s Bhakti so that all can have some direction from such Sanyasis). You may be sure of not ever again coming under spell of Maya (the unreal world and attachment with it).”

Having given these assurances and pieces of wisdom to Muni Narad, Lord Hari disappeared. Muni Narad now having come to know the truth, mentally moved in to realm of truth and started singing glories of Shri Ram while moving about (the form that Lord Hari had assumed in the Swayamvar ceremony would be the same that Lord Ram assumes in His avatar as son of King Dashrath).

We have now covered up to Doha 138 of Balkand.
