We discussed up to Doha 139 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned about Narad telling the two Ganas of Shiv that they are slated to become demons in next birth and would be killed by Lord Hari. This is what is the cause for  one of the avatars of Lord Hari in a certain Kalpa.

The Lord Hari appears on earth as avatars for such similar causes, these avatars are very very interesting, beautiful and marvelous. All these avatars take place in different time cycles, Lord Hari assumes many charming forms to do many interesting activities (Charitas). The Kathas relating to these various avatars are knit in various compositions with pure heart and pious intentions by the great Munis and are sung also by them (for benefit of masses). These wonderful anecdotes of many many kinds are explained in various different ways. But those who are wise enough do not nurture doubts about the veracity of the same. In fact Lord Hari is not limited in any way and so His Kathas are also dimensionless and innumerable. These Kathas are recited and listened in many ways by the saintly people (it is of importance to note that the avatars are many, happen in different time cycles, in various forms, Hari is infinite, the Kathas are conceived by many learned Munis and are explained by various others who may have some thing to add to it and also different threads of wisdom are picked up  at different times by different people hence these are not run of the mill type accounts of any historic events but are told and pondered to know the infinite nature of God to the extent of one’s own individual capacity to learn and reflect on them etc).

In similar ways the Charitas of Shri Ramchandra Bhagwaan are interesting and pleasure giving, it is not possible to cover all of it in millions of time cycles (crores of Kalpas). Lord Shiv says, ” O Bhavani, I have related this story (of Narad Muni) to impress upon you that even the learned Munis also become victims of Moha (delusive temperament) but at the same time the sportive Master of all of us (Lord Hari) who is ever inclined to serve the cause of His suppliant Bhaktas, is easily available to those who serve Him and He removes all that causes distress and sorrows.”
Lord Shiv then concluded by saying , “there is none among the gods, the Munis or the ordinary people who may not get entangled with the strong Maya and become prey to wrong kind of influences. Knowing this (that Maya is all powerful) one should be adoring and remembering the Master of this immensely powerful Maya (i e remember Lord Hari) on constant basis).”

( The Maya literally means ‘which is not’ or ‘what is not’. Lord Hari’s power responsible for creation of the unreal world is called Maya, it is always under guidance and control of Hari but has total vice-like grip on Human beings at all times who are not under protection of Lord Hari due to their devotion and service etc. Those who have known this also are saved form Maya’s influence but fall prey as soon as they become unguarded i e when they forget Hari, the God Supreme.)

We have now covered up to Doha 140 of Balkand.
