सरद मयंक बदन छबि सींवा। चारु कपोल चिबुक दर ग्रीवा।।
अधर अरुन रद सुंदर नासा। बिधु कर निकर बिनिंदक हासा।।
नव अबुंज अंबक छबि नीकी। चितवनि ललित भावँती जी की।।
भुकुटि मनोज चाप छबि हारी। तिलक ललाट पटल दुतिकारी।।
कुंडल मकर मुकुट सिर भ्राजा। कुटिल केस जनु मधुप समाजा।।
उर श्रीबत्स रुचिर बनमाला। पदिक हार भूषन मनिजाला।।
केहरि कंधर चारु जनेउ। बाहु बिभूषन सुंदर तेऊ।।
करि कर सरि सुभग भुजदंडा। कटि निषंग कर सर कोदंडा।।
दो0-तडित बिनिंदक पीत पट उदर रेख बर तीनि।।
नाभि मनोहर लेति जनु जमुन भवँर छबि छीनि।।147।।

We covered up to Doha 147 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and enjoyed the description of unearthly beauty of Lord who has appeared before Manu and Shatrupa in the form that they longed for.

The description continues, “the lotus feet of lord are beyond description (i e symbolically it says that there is no way that it can not be known on what pedestal the Supreme Lord is bases Himself on, we get to know only what He stands for that too in some limited way) but mind of Munis always remains involved with them like honey-bees (i e the Munis have only one subject to enter mentally into is the knowledge about God and His feet like honey-bees remain around the lotus and when it closes they happily remain imprisoned in its folds and draw honey).

On the left side of Lord stood majestically the ocean of beauty, the root (origin) of world, the embodied primordial energy whose tiny fragment gives rise to mines of virtues (of powers) that are Laxmi (of Vishnu), Uma (of Shiv) and Brahmani (of Brahmaji) and who remains ever cordial (at command) to Lord, she is none other the Sita of Lord Ram towards His left; She is capable to bring creation to life with just a movement of Her eyebrows (here Sita has been said to be the primordial energy who is always at command of Ram, the Supreme God. God is supposed to be neutral but all the creation and its life and activity draw strength from His own power that provides all the needed energy when so desired by God. It may be understood as something like this that when electricity is made to flow it works, otherwise it remains confined to the power-house, this flow can only happen when the source of electricity remains connected to.)

Upon having glimpse of ocean of beauty Lord Hari (Ram), the couple (Manu and Shatrupa) stopped blinking eyes, they gazed reverentially soaking His extra-ordinary beauty but did not feel contented. Overwhelmed with joy they missed body-consciousness and they fell like a lifeless pole at the feet of God and grabbed the feet with their hands whence Lord touched their heads with His own lotus hands (blessing them). Lord, the immensely graceful one, lifted them up without any loss of time.

(The above explains that when a Bhakta has real glimpse of God the body-centric ego gets eliminated because an understanding dawns that it is all His play that one is a part of, but ego is also a necessary part of being in human body too hence right at that stage the God offers His helping hand and the Bhakta becomes balanced again enjoying the company of His Lord in the form which he had been contemplating upon.)

The very next moment the compassionate Lord spoke to Manu and Shatrupa that knowing Him as very happy and pleased with them, they may ask for any thing in accordance with their specific desire in mind, they may ask it with an understanding that the Lord is capable of granting any thing wished, nothing is beyond.

(This is the precise moment that the level of devotion guides the Bhaktas to ask boons etc, those who have no I-ness or Mine-ness ask differently and those who have a trace of it still left ask for some worldly object or status etc., as we will see later.)

We have now covered up to Doha 148 of Balkand.

पद राजीव बरनि नहि जाहीं। मुनि मन मधुप बसहिं जेन्ह माहीं।।
बाम भाग सोभति अनुकूला। आदिसक्ति छबिनिधि जगमूला।।
जासु अंस उपजहिं गुनखानी। अगनित लच्छि उमा ब्रह्मानी।।
भृकुटि बिलास जासु जग होई। राम बाम दिसि सीता सोई।।
छबिसमुद्र हरि रूप बिलोकी। एकटक रहे नयन पट रोकी।।
चितवहिं सादर रूप अनूपा। तृप्ति न मानहिं मनु सतरूपा।।
हरष बिबस तन दसा भुलानी। परे दंड इव गहि पद पानी।।
सिर परसे प्रभु निज कर कंजा। तुरत उठाए करुनापुंजा।।
दो0-बोले कृपानिधान पुनि अति प्रसन्न मोहि जानि।
मागहु बर जोइ भाव मन महादानि अनुमानि।।148।।
