We covered up to Doha 164 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas and learned that Pratapbhanu has asked for boon of becoming ageless, unconquerable and enjoyer of riches and pleasure for long long time, from ex-king mistaking him to be someone possessing super-natural powers, all without applying commonsense and up on getting influenced by tall claims of the Sadhu in disguise because Pratapbhanu’s mental faculties have gone poor on account of nursing such desires.

The king in disguise of a Sadhu said, “O King, it will so happen (i e the wish is granted) but there is just one big difficulty in its way. Even the god of time/death will be subordinate to you but the Vipras (the knowledgeable Brahmins) and their families will not be. Its because of their Tapbal (strength derived from doing Tapa) they become ever stronger and if they become wrathful and inflict harm, nobody on earth can save. In this light, if O King, you may oblige them somehow, even the Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh will be obliged to you. No form of superiority can be established over the family of learned Brahmins, O lord of land, this I confirm as truth with both hand raised, however, if the possible curse of these Brahmins can be avoided, be sure that you will not face extinction at any time in future.”

King Pratapbhanu became happy to learn this from the ex-king, and spoke, ” O Master, now I can see that I will not perish ever. Favored by reward from you, O holder of grace, I am sure to remain blessed for all time to come.”

“Amen!” said the Sadhu in disguise and continued viciously, “you must now forget that we ever met, if you let it be known then fault will not be mine.”

(We can see that the King is getting carried away every passing moment at the prospect of seeing fulfillment of his long felt desire; he is even believing matters which haven’t even be told by the ex-king who is bent up on cheating him. Though ex-king said that there is a lurking danger from side of learned Brahmins yet king has believed that he has got every thing he wanted. The ex-king will take advantage of this mentality of the king and propose some scheme which should otherwise not be acceptable to anyone but to a person mentally roaming in world of his own making.)

We have now covered up to Doha 165 of Balkand.
