सुत समूह जन परिजन नाती। गे को पार निसाचर जाती।।
सेन बिलोकि सहज अभिमानी। बोला बचन क्रोध मद सानी।।

We covered up to Doha 181 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Ravan has decided to force the gods to completely surrender before him by stopping the society at large from conducting Yagnas and carrying out other duties enshrined and for this Ravan has a strong army and a large family under his command.

Ravan summoned Meghnaad, his son, and talked him so that he feels a surge of power and greater animosity (towards gods) and prompted him to take to task all those who were good at fighting in camp of gods and who wanted to fight due to their own sense of pride (so that they come out in open). Ravan then ordered Meghnaad to go and defeat those warriors and bring them chained before him.

Meghnaad got up to do what was expected of him and similarly rest of the demons were given order to fight. Ravan himself too got up with his mace in hand. When Ravan set forth the land under his feet cracked, his thunderous voice challenging the gods made the expectant women of gods to miscarry their pregnancies. Learning of the advance of enraged Ravan towards themselves, the gods went in to hiding in the caves of Sumeru mountain. The ten headed demon found all ten directions under charge of Digpals desolate. Ravan made harsh roaring sounds and badly abused the gods (for their timidness).

Power drunk Ravan roamed all over the places and looked for a challenger but there was none.

The sun-god, moon-god, god of winds, god of waters, god of fire, god of wealth and the god of death and rest of the gods in charge of different areas as also the Kinnars, the Sidhhas, the humans and the Nagas were forcibly made to confront (but none came forward to fight). The whole range of creation and its embodied beings whether males or females became subservient to Ravan; all of them thought it fit to be bowing down before him and carry out his wishes routinely under fear.

All in the world came under command of his brute power and none remained free under his scepter. Ravan, the highest among the kings, ruled according to his own will and style. Ravan won many beautiful and decent daughters of gods, Yakshas, Gandhrvas, humans, Kinners and Nagas using his strength of arms and forcibly married them.

(The organized exploitation of resources of the world, by some, that are controlled by different gods without a sense of balance and without recognizing the rights of rest in the society leads to personal exploitation of masses; this is what can be gathered here.)

We have now covered up to Doha 182 of Balkand.
