We covered up to Doha 187 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that the Divine Voice of God has declared the descent of God as avatar in the family of King Dashrath for which time has come and later Brahmaji has told all the gods also to be ready to serve the God Supreme by taking form of monkeys.

The gods thereafter went to their respective places of stay, the gods and the earth now felt relieved (of tension and worry) . The gods embarked on doing happily what Brahmaji told them to do without any further loss of time. They appeared on earth in the form of monkeys wandering in jungles, they had great strength and aura around them (being gods). All these brave gods relied on the mountains and trees for living and had big nails as weapons and started waiting and looking around for the coming of Lord Hari with a resolute mind. They constituted their own great armies staying all over the mountains and woods.

Lord Shiva tells Parvati that he has related this interesting part of Ram Charit and said that now she should listen to what had been kept untold so far (now the story directly related to Ram avatar will be told by Lord Shiva).

In the string (family) of Raghus in Ayodkya there was a jewel like king called Dashrath, Vedas also make mention of him. He was profoundly religious, was rich in virtues and was knowledgeable ( i e had studied Vedas etc.); he had Bhakti in heart and had his intellect also surrendered before the Saranpaani (holder of SharNga bow) Lord Vishnu (i e was ready to mindfully act out whatever be the God’s will).

Kaushalya and other consorts of King Dashrath were also of pious nature and just behavior and were very much loved by the king; they also had their profound love placed at the feet of Lord Hari like that of the king.

(Lord Ram is going to be taking birth in the family of Dashrath and therefore it is essential that his consorts also have a natural love for the Supreme God; Kaushalya in any case had been with Dashrath in earlier birth when they had asked for the boon of having Ram as their own son. The description here tells us that righteous behavior, piety, due learning of Vedas and love for Lord are congenial for the keeping God centric mind.)

We have now covered up to Doha 188 of Balkand.
