सुनि सिसु रुदन परम प्रिय बानी। संभ्रम चलि आई सब रानी।।
हरषित जहँ तहँ धाईं दासी। आनँद मगन सकल पुरबासी।।
दसरथ पुत्रजन्म सुनि काना। मानहुँ ब्रह्मानंद समाना।।
परम प्रेम मन पुलक सरीरा। चाहत उठत करत मति धीरा।।
जाकर नाम सुनत सुभ होई। मोरें गृह आवा प्रभु सोई।।
परमानंद पूरि मन राजा। कहा बोलाइ बजावहु बाजा।।
गुर बसिष्ठ कहँ गयउ हँकारा। आए द्विजन सहित नृपद्वारा।।
अनुपम बालक देखेन्हि जाई। रूप रासि गुन कहि न सिराई।।
दो0-नंदीमुख सराध करि जातकरम सब कीन्ह।
हाटक धेनु बसन मनि नृप बिप्रन्ह कहँ दीन्ह।।193।।

We covered up to Doha 193 of Balkand of Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that King Dashrath has gone in to a state of absolute bliss up on receiving news of birth of his son and summoning the Brahmins and Guru, has become engaged in rituals to be performed as per the tradition and has busied himself in happily gratifying Brahmins by giving them gold and other things.

The city’s skyline was full with flags and banners; arches were put up here and there decorating the city. It all seemed supernatural in beauty (after all Lord Hari had descended there as Ram). The flowers from sky were being rained (by the gods) and everyone was supremely blissful (as an effect of arrival of the Lord in Ayodhya). Ladies of the city with just normal application of Shringaar (the usual make up that married ladies apply in daily course of living like Sindoor and Bindi on the forehead etc) formed groups and ran towards the palace of King Dashrath. Carrying Golden Kalashas (spherical water pots) and the dishes full of auspicious stuffs they set down at the door steps of the king’s residence. They did Aarti of the newborn and offered money and other things to needy after moving it around the head of the new born (its a common practice and is to ward off evil spirits) and bowed down at the feet of the new-born (after all He was going to be their king at some time later being the eldest son of King Dashrath).

The bards and singers started singing glories and virtues of Raghunayak (the Lord of Raghus). Everyone offered what he had in possession to others and those who received also offered it back without claiming it to be their own (this is how society should be, everything for everybody’s use as per the requirement, this is the effect of coming of Lord Ram in the Ayodhya, this becomes the very characteristic of Ayodhya for all time to come barring a certain incident of which we will come to know later in Ram Katha).

The auspicious stuffs like Chandan (Sandal), Musk and saffron were so liberally used that they fell on earth to make the streets muddy with mix of these stuffs.

Every home had festivities going on in midst of music played on auspicious occasions and why not, the very source of atmospheric charm had become manifested, this was cause enough for every citizen whether a lady of a gentleman to be rejoicing and enjoying all over the place.

We have now covered up to Doha 194 of Balkand.

ध्वज पताक तोरन पुर छावा। कहि न जाइ जेहि भाँति बनावा।।
सुमनबृष्टि अकास तें होई। ब्रह्मानंद मगन सब लोई।।
बृंद बृंद मिलि चलीं लोगाई। सहज संगार किएँ उठि धाई।।
कनक कलस मंगल धरि थारा। गावत पैठहिं भूप दुआरा।।
करि आरति नेवछावरि करहीं। बार बार सिसु चरनन्हि परहीं।।
मागध सूत बंदिगन गायक। पावन गुन गावहिं रघुनायक।।
सर्बस दान दीन्ह सब काहू। जेहिं पावा राखा नहिं ताहू।।
मृगमद चंदन कुंकुम कीचा। मची सकल बीथिन्ह बिच बीचा।।
दो0-गृह गृह बाज बधाव सुभ प्रगटे सुषमा कंद।
हरषवंत सब जहँ तहँ नगर नारि नर बृंद।।194।।
