Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

We covered up to Doha 231 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Lord Ram explained to Lakshman that Sita, the daughter of Janak has come in the garden of flowers along with Her companions to worship Maa Parvati and its for Sita that the Dhanush Yagma has been planned. Ram is greatly impressed by the beauty of Sita and wonders that there is some reason but is only known to the creator, the Brahma, that He finds Himself drawn towards Sita. He recalls His great family lineage and thinks that its impossible for His heart to be drawn towards others’ women and therefore wonders about His attraction towards Sita. While thus talking to younger brother Lakshman, Ram keeps looking at Sita in a way that wouldn’t disturb Sita even a bit like when lotus is near a flower no threat is posed to lower.

Sita in the mean time had stepped forward and started to look
around with expectation but unsurely as she could not straight away locate where Ram and Lakshman were at that very moment and worried as to where the sons of King Dashrath might have disappeared (Sita had got very inclined to see Her missing companion i e Ram and naturally found Herself incapable of coping with absense of opportunity). Sita, the fawneyed one spread Her angle of vision and the directions of Her glance seemed to be raining a stream of white lotuses.

Her accompanying friends then pointed out to Her the appearence of attractive young princes hidden behind a veil of creepers there; Her eyes became greedy to have full view immediately as She had a glimpse of Ram as if her eyes had chanced upon finding a treasure of their own (which they had been missing ever since the Ram had taken to descend on earth as avatar).

Such massive effort was made by Sita’s eyes to capture the charm of Raghupati Shri Ram that they got tired and couldn’t be moved; the eyelids also stopped blinking (they didn’t wish to come in way of eyes having an uninterruped look). The excess of Her love made Sita lose Her body-cosciousness (Her love for Ram had nothing to do with senses of body since it was divine love never diminishing in its potency) and it was a condition like that of Chakory ( a bird whose glance gets transfixed up on seeing moon in the sky) looking at Her beloved moon in the night sky of Sharad Ritu (season after rainy season when the sky is dust-free and moon shows in greater brightness making Chakory all the more going in to transe).

Sita let the Her beloved Ram’s form get in to Her heart through the vents of Her eyes and closed Her eyes (as if to not let Ram’s image now planted in Her heart escape). When the friends of Sita saw Sita spell-bound with love of Ram to this great extent, they too became dumb and reluctant to interfere in any way.

A short while later the two brothers came out of the bower as if not one but two blemishless moons had come out of the veil of clouds tearing it apart.

Now we have covered up to Doha 232 of Balkand.

Bhavani Shankar Ki Jai!
