Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

We covered up to Doha 232 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that while Sita was looking for Shri Ram in the garden she could not place Him and got upset. Right then Ram was pointed out, partly concealed behind a veil of creepers, by Her friend; Sita then had absorbed the extra-ordinery beauty of Shri Ram and became still and closed Her eyes too as if to keep the image of Shri Ram from escaping which had embeded in heart. Considering that Sita was in a deeply engrossed in Her moments of love for Shri Ram. Her companions dediced to not disturb Sita and a little while later Shri Ram and younger brother emerged out of the bushes making way from behind the veil of creepers and it looked as if two blemishless moons had come out of the water laden clouds.

The two brother, as beautiful as can be possible and of very appealing personality, were now in full view; the complexion of their bodies matched that of blue and yellow lotus flowers. On their heads they sported peacock-feathers arranged along with bunches of buds and flowers. They had mark of Tilak on their forehead which was dotted with drops of persipiration. They wore attractive pendent like ornament in their ears which enhanced the charm. Their eye-brows were curved and hairs were curly. Their eyes were slightly reddish resembling half-blown lotuses for red tinge. Their smile stole heart because they had proportionate chin, nose and cheek.

Tulsidas says that such beauty is beyond my capacity to describe which can shame even a combined beauty of many cupids.

On their breasts dangled beautiful strings of Manis (stones that shine even in dark) and their neck region was shaped like a conch-shell. The strong and long arms were like trunk of an elephant.

One of the friends noted that the dark complexioned prince held a cup made of leaves which was full with recently plucked flowers and said to another that this one has a special charm and attraction. She pointed out that His waist is like that of a lion (i e slender) and He is clad in yellow attire with a lot of grace and charm in His personality. This is how the group of friends forgot their own self while looking at the most esteemed scion of solar-dynasty of kings.

(We saw that King Janak as a well established person in the ultimate truth i e Purn Gyaani could know when he first saw Shri Ram that He could not be any body other than the formless Lord that he known through his knowledge but here the companions of Sita could also come in to a state where they lost their body-consiousness while they had only been keeping company of Sita, the embodiment of Bhakti. Janak had come down from his state of body-consciousness upon seeing the Lord in form of a human but the friends of Sita went in to state of loss of body-consciousness when they first encountered the Lord and saw His extra-ordinerily beautiful form. So in the end Bhaktas as well as Gyaanis do not suffer any disadvantage.)

Now we have covered up to Doha 233 of Balkand.

Bhavani Shanker Ki Jai!
