II Shree Guruvey Namah II

Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

We covered up to Doha 234 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that companions of Sita asked her to look at the prince rather remain in thoughts with eyes closed and not let the opportunity slip by. Sita then opened her eyes and found the two princes right in front, she particularly abosrbed the beauty of Shri Ram by first looking at His feet and then gradually towards His head (as if to first pay Him her respect and then see Him fully); then she remembered her father vow and became sad. Friends also became mindful of the fact of Sita being under discipline of her father and therefore mentioned to her that it was now late. One told Sita that they would come back around this time again and smiled within but this made Sita uneasy at the propect of waiting for 24 hours without seeing the Lord. Sita then took a heartful look at Shri Ram and fearing her mother about the delay and respecting that she was yet under guardianship of father Sita moved to return back but looked back again and again as if to see the flora fawna but actually stealing a look at Shri Ram and getting deeper in love for Him.

Constantly reminded of bow of Shiv as being difficult to handle but also reflecting over the blue hued image (of Shri Ram) in her heart, Sita kept walking back. Lord Shri Ram too noted that Sita was now going back and painted a very charming and lovly image of virtuous Sita on the pure canvass of His own heart with ink mixed with His extreme love of Him for Her.

Sita now reached the temple of Bhavani Parvati and prayed with her hands folded, ” Glory to You, O the daughter of king of mountains, may you always win. O the one who always have your eyes fixed on shinning face of Maheshwar Shiv like a Chakori does towards moon, You may reign supreme O’ mother of Ganesha ( the elephant headed lord)and of Kartikeya (the six headed commander of the troops of gods), you are none but the mother of the universe and have a very shinning body like lightning, there is no beginning, middle or end of Yours while Your influence and power is so immense that even Vedas do not fully know. You are the reason for the world to come in to existence, to prosper and to finish. You keep the world amused and also illusioned but Your own enjoyment is independent of others.

“Of all the virtuous and nice women who consider husband as their master and lord, You are the most revered one. Your virtues and qualities are so much as can’t be recounted by even a thousand of Sheshas (which has two thousands mouths) and Sharda (the goddess of learning).”

( Here we may recall that Parvati had done great Tapa with unwavering resolve to have Shiv as her husband. Sita is in a similar situation and therefore is invoking grace of Parvati. Parvati is mothe of Ganesh, the remover of obstacles and mother of brave Kartikeya who is capable of efeating the demons. Who else than Parvati is to be looked up on by Sita.)
