We covered up to Doha 235 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Sita is mindful of the challenge posed by bow of Shiv due to its being difficult to be handled and broken but she also has her attention fixed on the lovely image of Shri Ram in her heart. Lord Ram too did notice Sita going back but imprinted her imagr in His own heart. Sita then reached the temple of Bhavani Parvati and prayed before her singing her qualities and prowess as consort of Shiv and mother of Ganesh and Kartikeya and as the greatest one among the ladies who are totally devoted to their husbands.

Sita further prays before statue of Parvati in the temple saying, ” O the bestower of boons and beloved of Purari Shiv, serving you, its not difficult to have four way success in world (i e have Dharmic living, abundance of means, fulfillment of desire and lastly to have salvation, called Dharm, arth, Kaam and Moksha, Sita knows that her union with Ram with grace of Parvati will have a similar course and benefit).

“O Devi, by serving and worshipping your lotus feet (i e by adopting the similar course as Parvati had for getting Shiv as Master and Lord) all the gods, humans and Munis become happy; you are aware of what is dear to my heart very well as you stay in heart of every one (of your worshipers) hence I do not verbalize the same before you.”

After her prayer Vaidehi Sita grabbed the feet of Parvati and Parvati too became overwhelmed by love and benign prayer done by Sita; instantly a wreath dropped from around the neck of smiling statue of Parvati and Sita took it to touch her own head with it taking it to be Prasad (devine gift/reward) and Sita also heard Gauri Parvati saying, “your wish will be granted, Muni Narad (devine saint who moves in all three worlds) has already spoken about it, you will have Him only as your husband who you have already placed in your heart.

“Dark handsome and naturally beautiful (without any attempt to look beautiful) whom you have already taken as your husband in your heart will be yours’ own; He is full of kindness, is omniscient, is very gracious/decent besides He is aware of your feeling of love for Him.”

Sita and all Her companions became very happy in their hearts after they listened to the blessings of Maa Parvati; Tulsi says that all of them worshipped and offered respects to parvati and went back to palace of the king Janak. Sita’s heart became so happy as to be beyond words to describe, it knew that Parvati who is most charming and source of all good, was well disposed in her favor and Sita’s limbs on the left side throbed indicating good omen.

We have now covered up to Doha 236 of balkand.
