Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

we covered up to Doha 236 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Sita finished her prayer before Maa Parvati with utmost devotion and humility and Parvati became very pleased. A wreath from statue fell before Sita which she took as Prasad of Bhavani Parvati and also listened to Parvati endorsing and granting her the wish that she had in heart but had not spoken aloud yet. Thus convinced that her love for the most beautiful one in her eyes i e for Shri Ram in not misplaced, Sita proceeded with companions for the palace of her father King Janak in a happy mood and thanking Maa Parvati again and again.

On the other hand Ram and lakshman also went back to where Muni Vishwamitra was, appreciating howeever the charm of Sita in their hearts. Ram being very simple of heart and without a trace of any kind of deceipt in mind told everything that had happened in garden to Kaushik (Muni Vishwamitra).

(Ram told every thing including how he felt for Sita in His heart. This is established here by Him that its not enough to just tell the physical part to elders and Guru but also what impact a event has had on the mind, only in this manner the elders may help if on the right track or check if on the wrong track.)

When Muni got the flowers from Ram, he performed his daily Puja (worship) and then got up to bless the two brothers.

(Muni Vishwamitra is a realized soul and is aware of the fact who Ram is, but his daily Puja routine is not broken by him. We are embodied souls and therefore it is required that we serve the Lord with body also which is essential to keep mental distracion away. It is only at very late stage in life when one has become too frail and has started to live away from society that the physical Puja loses imporatance but not till then and not till the knowledge about God has been fully assimilated in psyche.)

Muni Vishwamitra then expressly also told them, ” May what you have in mind become reality and you get rewarding fruit.” Ram and Lakshman listened to the benediction and became very happy. After meals the Muni, a fully illuminated and realized person, started relating some old stories of earlier times (it is through stories that some intricate knowledge in passed on to youngers which when told just as principles may not rightly be understood).

It was now end of the day time and the two brother took leave of Muni to perform Sadhya (evening time prayer, when the day and night meet. It is necessary duty of the yougnster post the thread ceremony and the householders).

By the time prayers were over, moon appeared on the eastern horizon and pleased the brothers. Ram looked at moon and thought it is as much beautiful as the face of Sita and felt pleased but then he thought it is not right to think so that the moon, though with cooling effect, is as pleasing as Sita’s face. He began reflecting at the different aspects of moon like it is born of sea, its brother is venom, it becomes shineless in the day time, it has darkish stain on it and hence how this poorly gifted moon may ever be considered as comparable to Sita’s face i e Sita has none of these faults.

(The birth of moon had happened when the sea was churned by the demons on one side and gods on the other, it was then only that venom was also created, it how the Poranic lore goes.)

We have now covered up to Doha 237 of balkand.
