Ramcharit Charcha CCXXX

II Shree Guruvey Namah II

Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

We covered up to Doha 238 of Balkand in Ramchari manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Ram remained in thought of Sita and did not find moon as a suitable simile to describe facial charm of Sita as it had many faults. After the night’s rest and after waking up in the morning He told Lakshman that sun has risen and has brought comfort to people (indicating that He too is ready for the day ahead after remaining engrossed in thoughts of Sita). Lakshman then told Ram that Ram himself has made the assembled kings powerless in the same way as the rise of sun has made stars and glow-worms stop shining any more.

Lakshman went on saying that kings are like stars who all together can not ward off darkness that is represented by bow (the condition that bow has to be broken for marriage with Sita). Lakshman said, like lotuses, Chakrvaks, birds and buzzy-bees have become happy up on ending of night in the same way all the good-hearted people, Your Bhaktas will be happy when You will break the bow . Like the gloom and darkness of night have disappeared just when the sun has risen without an effort made for it and like the stars have disappeared without any action on part of sun and the there is all round glow and influence of sun noticeable, the sun is only making it known to all kings the real extent of Your influence and power by showing up in the sky, O’ Lord of Raghus.

“It is but for revealing the power in Your arms and make known Your glories that the event for braking of bow has been organized.”

Ram simply listened the words spoken by Lakshman and smiled (the words didn’t have any effect on Ram as one should not succumb to feeling of pride when one listens to words of praise and neither it be contradicted or avoided by effort from falling in to ears in an ordinery way). Ram then attended to the daily morning routine and had bath; though Ram is pure by His very nature (i e He never ever becomes impure in any condition) yet He performed all that is done for purification (in line with His Leelas as a human). Duly performing His daily Puja etc Ram went to Guru to bow down at the lotus feet of Guru touchin them with His head in a graceful manner.

In the mean time King Janak sent for his own Kulguru Satanand and wished him to go to Muni Vishwamitra immediately. There Satanand gave the message of kind invitation of the King and humble request for attending the event. Vishwamitra then very gladly called the two brothers to join them.

Entering the place lord Ram touched feet of Satanand with humility but set down near His Guru (Vishwamitra). Muni Vishwamitra then told Ram, “O Son, let us proceed, Janak has sent us an invitation.”

We have now covered up to Doha 239 of Balkand, this also happens to be 8th day’s pause for month long recitation as also 2nd day’s pause for nine day recitation.
