Ramcharit Charcha CCLVII

II Shree Guruvey Namah II

Jai Shri Ram,

II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II
II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

We covered up to Doha 264 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that
Sita reflected Her unworldly beauty while she garlanded Shri Ram in acknowledgement of victory of Shri Ram over the entire universe. The gods became pleased onaccount of it and celebrated the occasion by showering flowers and the arrogant kings felt defeated and powerless.

The city of Janakpur as well heavens were filled with sounds coming out of musical instruments making the wicked somewhat subdued and the noble people rejoice. Gods, Kinners, humans, Nagas and the Munis hailed Ram for His victory and also gave blessings. The other married ladies with thorough understanding danced and sang and sprung handfuls of flowers (they knew that Sita and Ram had some divine connection and their coming together now was for their sake and for their enjoyment).

The Vipras (Brahmins who had learned Vedas) chanted Vedic hymnes (these are sung in special way which one learns from Gurus). The prasises were being sung by another set of people.

The earth, the Patals ( subterranean regions) and heavens became aware of the great event and that Ram had now married Sita since the marriage was dependent on just Ram’s breaking the bow of Shiv.

The ladies and gentlemen who had assembled their started doing Aarti of Shri Ram and Sita and offered money without paying attention to how much they were giving and to whom. The couple i e Ram and Sita looked remarkably beautiful as if the godess of beauty and lord of love had come together at that place.

As was the custom, the friends of Sita advised her to touch feet of Lord but Sita didn’t do it out of fear. All thought that as she had known what had happened to Ahalya when Ram’s feet touched her and was therefore afraid (but it was not so). Ram smiled within knowing that Sita did not touch His feet because of Her love for Him was of different type, it was unworldly love where Sita was one with Him and when the two were infact one entity how She could have touched feet on Ram (at that level the Supreme God and His creative power are not seperated, the so called seperation is perceived when the illusory world comes in to creation).

We have now covered upto Doha 265 of Balkand.

Bhavani Shankar Ki Jai!
