We covered up to Doha 284 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Ram very politely but very distinctively told Muni Parasuram that He didn’t come from a family that He should be frightful to fight any one equaling or exceeding in strength but definitely had been scared to make the members of Vipra community displeased as who are afraid to do anything not approved by them attract no harm. Ram’s fearlessly spoken words which carried deep meaning ultimately made Muni see reason and he wanted to place his bow in Ram’s hand which went without an effort being made on His part and made Muni get surprised (The bow in Muni’s hand was of Lord Vishnu and was to be kept till He descended on earth as Shri Ram. Muni Parasuram was also reducing the burden of earth by killing exploiters who were mostly kings, now the demons were going to be killed by Ram Himself). He now had inkling about Ram’s real nature making him get bodily thrilled and made himself ready to address Ram with folded hands and overflowing love for Him.

Muni Parasuram happily started to praise Ram saying, “O Glorious one from the family of Raghu, you are indeed like sun for the forests for its growth, it also gets infested by groups of demons, its You who will burn them down like wildfire. Glory to You also for reason of Your being benefactor of gods, Vipras and cows; Your glory is also in Your being able to kill the arrogance, the sense of false ownership and the anger of people and the illusion born out of it (Muni own experience confirmed this).

“You are ocean of qualities like humility, civility and compassion besides You are well versed in construction of sentences with proper words (Muni recollected Ram’s attitude and behavior and what he was now speaking was personal knowledge not just something heard).

“You give immense pleasure to Your servants and all Your departments are auspicious while Your body has beauty of millions of cupids and is unsurpassed (here Muni is referring to Ram as the Supreme Lord whose designs can not be faulted and those who can really understand the whole cycle can’t remain noticing the beauty involved in every thing that happens).

“O Lord, glories of Yours are indescribable by me who has just one mouth to speak and it goes beyond the mundane world since You are the one who remains in Manas (mental lake) of Lord Shiv as spotless swan (a perfect one to reflect upon).

“I have spoken the unspeakable for I didn’t know the reality and expect to be forgiven as You, the two brothers, are abode of mercy.”

Thus hailing the great Raghu many times over, the Lord of Bhrigus went about his way leading in to forest to do Tapa (he wanted to get over his weakness of being angry which had kept him from knowing while he had the Lord present before him in person). Now the wicked kings were badly striken with fear and some of them who were more cowardly fled from the scene.

The gods started blowing horns in excitement and started showering flowers (they had been given clue now by both Parasuram and Ram that the end of demons will be undertaken by Lord Himself). The citizens of Janakpuri also started rejoicing as their mental prick was removed although it was not real but was born out of ignorance.

We have now covered up to Doha 285 of Balkand.

Bhavani Shankar ki Jai!
Prabhu Shri Ram Ki Jai!
