The warriors in the army of Dashrath who had committed themselves to fighting fiercely in the battle field stood out side the city in readiness and were exercising the horses at various paces and ways and were cheerful listening to the sound of drumming. The charioteers prepared their Raths (cars) in imaginative ways and fixed flags and banners as also ornaments studded with gems. The bells were tied to the cars and were making tinkling sound. On the whole the chariot of Sun-god might be considered a little less in elegance and splendor compared to the chariots that were being readied there (Sun-god is supposed to cross the sky in a chariot in a majestic way). Horses of a special kind of breed having black ears and totally white bodies were attached to the chariots (these horses are used while performing Ashwamedh Yagna), they were beautifully ornamented and stole even the hearts of Munis (who do not give much importance to pomp and show). These horses were capable of running over the water bodies in the same fashion as they would run over the landed tracts, because of their high speed their feet will not sink deep. The chariots were provided with weapons that are thrown and weapons that are held in hand while fighting. The charioteers signaled their masters and occupants as passengers that they were ready.

People now riding on their respective vehicles collected out side the city and all those who were running errands found good omens on their way which indicated good tidings and auspicious happenings.

We have now covered up to Doha 299 of Balkand.

Special kind of seats and canopies were placed on the magnificent elephants; the elephants swayed in their toxic mood and the bells tied to their neck made pleasing sound like the sound of rumbling of clouds in the month of Shravan (a monsoon month). There were other kind of vehicles too like the palanquins etc and the groups of Brahmins were seated in side those, it looked as if the hymns of Vedas had appeared in human form. The eulogists, singers and bards also took suitable vehicles and the mules, camels and bulls etc were loaded with needed goods of various kinds. The servants also also joined in various groups carrying items of use.

All in the procession had hearts full of cheer and bodies lightened with feeling of pleasure at the prospect of seeing the two brothers, Ram and Lakshman, in full measure with both eyes as long as wanted (the God oriented people are always thrilled at the prospect of participating in events related with their master).

We have now covered up to Doha 300 of Balkand.
