We covered up to Doha 320 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that the two great kings (Janak and Dashrath) met with great love. King Janak personally offered seats to all in the marriage party. King Janak honored Muni Vashishtth by doing Puja as he would have done for his Isht Devta (preferred deity) and then did the same to Muni Vishwamitra and honored rest of the Munis also like Vaamdev and others. King Janak was then blessed by all these saintly people.

King Janak also ritualistically honored King Dashrath having same sentiment that he would have while worshiping Ishwar, the Lord Shiv. Janak praised and pleased Dashrath saying that he was lucky to have a great fortune on account of which he had been rewarded fully (as now he had a relative like King Dashrath). King Janak treated every one of the Baraties giving them as much honor as he gave to King Dashrath, the father of the bridegroom. Janak offered all of them seats with great humility and enthusiasm saying that there was so much to talk to all of them but alas with just one mouth he wasn’t able to fulfill that wish. In this manner Janak honored the whole Barat giving them due respect, gifts of various kinds and polite treatment; he also praised them liberally.

Brahma, Shiv and Vishnu, all the lords of eight directions (Indra of east, Agni of east-south, Yama of south, Nirrti of south-west,Varuna of west, Vayu of north-west, Kubera of north and Shiv north-east) and the radiant Sun, the lord of the day, who knew the influence and power of Shri Ram, were also present there very well disguised as learned Brahmins; they witnessed the event greatly amazed and excitedly and appreciated the real truth behind it.

The gods, though disguised and could not be recognized, were treated like gods by Janak (Janak used to treat the Brahmins like gods) and were given nice sitting places. People attending the ceremony were forgetting there own self, who could then recognize others and know who was who. People on both sides watched with interest the most blissful bridegroom and became full of pleasure giving vibes. Ram who knows all could see that gods had come there and therefore worshiped them (as gods deserve to be worshiped whenever they are seen, called or called upon) mentally and offered them imaginary seats. The gods also appreciated it and were very pleased to be treated by Ram in this manner in kine with His very congenial and respectful nature.

The gods savored beauty of moon-like face of Shri Ram with their eyes in the same way as Chakore bird does when it sees the moon in the sky with great respect and heart filled with love for Him.

We have now covered up to Doha 321 of Balkand.

Bhavani Shankar Ki Jai!

Krishna KHandelwal
