We covered up to Doha 330 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that people in Janakpuri were enjoying new celebrations every day after the marriage of Ram and Sita along with the marriage party and the days seemed to pass quickly. One morning King Dashrath got up and realized that he has had all his wishes fulfilled and he should now give healthy and decorated cows to Vipras and Munis (as the cows provide all that is needed by them). Guru Vashishtth called all the great Rishis and other people engaged in Tapa and all came there honoring Vashishtth Muni’s call.

King Dashrath worshiped them and prostrated before all the Munis who had come there and offered them best of seats to sit. Then King Dashrath ordered his people to get four hundred thousand cows of fine breed which were as good as the Kaamdhenu (the divine cow that is capable to give whatever is prayed for). These cows then were dressed with all kinds of ornaments; the king presented these cows to Mahidevas (Vipras and Brahmins) with pleasure. The King supplicated and pleased them in many ways and said, “today I have got from this world the benefit of being born.” The Brahmins and Vipras then blessed the king making him immensely happy. The King in lineage of Sun-god then summoned the beggars and needy and gave them gold, clothes, jewels, horses, elephants and chariots/carts etc after checking with them what they needed. All the recipients sang glories of guardian of the Sun-dynasty while leaving. This was how the Ram’s marriage was being celebrated with aplomb and was hard to be described by a thousand mouths.

The King then many times told Muni Vishwamitra placing head on feet of Muni that all the pleasures now being enjoyed by himself precipitated only on account of Muni’s graceful glancing in his direction (the King at first had been reluctant to send Ram and Lakshman with Muni Vishwamitra but heeding advice of Muni Vashishtth dis send them. The king wanted to tell Muni Vishwamitra that he would have spoiled what he had received and Muni Vishwamitra’s visit to his palace was that graceful act of Muni that ensured it all for him. Thus he endorsed that those who follow Gurus’ command always profit and not lose).”

We have now covered up to Doha 331 of Balkand.
