We covered up to Doha 334 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that King Janak arranged and then sent to Ayodhya lot many things of value as dowry including live stock and valuable clothes, things made of gold and the precious stones. In the palace the queens and the companions of Sita embraced her time and again and showered their love and gave valuable tips to Sita by way of advice for her smooth adjustment in Dashrath’s household. Right then Ram and His brothers reached there too for taking leave of the mothers in-law and take along the brides.

The ladies and gentlemen of Janakpuri rushed to meet the four brothers who were known to be very affable and good-natured. Some of the citizens informed that Shri Ram and brothers were to leave today itself and King Janak had made preparations for it. They opined that it was the opportunity to have full benefit of seeing them and appreciate their beautiful forms, its only today that the four sons of King Dashrath will remain as our dear guests here. They talked of their good deeds that compelled Brahma, the creator, to present these princes before our eyes to savor their beautiful forms. They thought its nothing less than that a person who doesn’t have hope to live any longer gets a dose of nectar; its like a person hungry for some thing since birth gets Kalp-vruksh (divine tree that fulfils all desires). The wise thought that by fixing a careful glance on Shri Ram, His beautiful form should be taken to heart (for future benefit), it should be so carefully kept alive in heart as a snake keeps Mani on his head (some snakes have a ever-shining stone on their head and is called Mani, they fight fiercely if it is to be snatched away from them. Right then the princes went inside the palace offering everyone present there the life time benefit for having eyes.
When the ladies in the Janak’s household saw the oceans of beauty that these four brothers looked like, they did Aarati of them and the mothers in-law gave gifts to servants enjoying the ecstatic moments.

The mothers looked at Ram with a love-laced glance and under weight of their love for Him bent down again and again and touched His feet. They shed all reservations as the heart was overwhelmed with emotion of love; it was natural flow of affection for Him (as the son-in-law) and therefore can’t be described by others. Shri Ram and the brothers were given bath extensively using all ointments and fragrant pastes and then were offered food of every variety. Finding an opportune moment Shri Ram hinted the mother of Sita displaying affection, softness and humility, ” my father, King Dashrath, was now ready to move away and therefore we have been sent to take leave from all of you; O Mother, please allow us to go with a cheerful heart and consider us your own child, we deserve your affection and love on a daily basis. The mothers of brides and other ladies became restless and super charged with emotions listening to these words of Shri Ram and took to bosom their daughters and later handed their hands in to their husbands’ and prayed.
Sita was submissively joined with Ram and mother Sunayana told Him , “I would be pleased to go to any extent for Your sake, very learned and knowledgeable, You know the fate of every one. Sita is more dear than life itself to the whole family, the citizens and to the king.” She further said, ” O Lord of Tulsi (Tulsi plant is very dear to Lord Vishnu, there is story regarding Tulsi’s relationship with Lord Vishnu. Son in-law is supposed to be representing Lord Vishnu and daughters are taken to be like Lakshmi and therefore are joined with the Lord), you may appreciate Sita’s love for you and Her decent behavior. Please consider Her to be in your service at all times. You are the one who fulfills every desire of every one, you the wisest and you know all but more than that you have special regard for sentiment of love towards you, O Ram, you value the qualities of your devotees but the faults in them are destroyed by you, you are the abode of mercy and grace.”
(Here the divinity of Shri Ram has been pointed out in every way. The form of Lord should be kept in heart by devotees, they should look for all opportunities to get the reflection of His beauty by visiting temples. Lord should be worshiped by taking all steps like bathing him, offering Him food as Bhog, do Aarati and give alms. Lakshmi i e your wealth should be offered for the cause of Lord. The moment of separation from Him should be making emotions flow. The Lord’s glories should be sung and He should not be feared for having faults which get removed on course of devotional services offered to Him, the virtues become more ingrained in a person who worships the Lord. The abstract form of Lord is difficult to concentrate up on but the God as Avatar and His Leelas are easy to be reflected upon. By practice He comes very near to self and can be seen in Dhyana and felt as being around. He can be related in any desired way like as a friend, as master as son, as father or any other way. Surrender before Him should be constantly practiced. He knows fate of all and does care for the devotee hence no worry regrading future should be nursed. Since He knows all, nothing should be tried to kept concealed from Him. Physically doing Puja of Lord is a sure way to impart in you greater love for Him. Mentally remembering Him is also a great aid in calming the mind. Repeating His name with love works at a very subtle level and devotees progress fast. The company of those who love Him is the company that should be kept. Its just to give an idea that the episode of Ram’s marriage with Sita has divine connotations, with slight idea you may discover many angles that show us the path.)
