We covered up to Doha 336 of Balkand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas and learned that Shri Ram and His brothers have reached at the palace of King Janak for taking formal leave before going back to Ayodhya. The four brothers were treated with love and given bath first before offering them large varieties of food. The queens and ladies in the Janak household became emotional and embraced the daughters again and again. The hands of the brides were then given in to hands of their husbands. Overwhelmed Sunayana ji prayed Ram saying that Sita, who is very dear to everyone in Janakpuri, may be taken in His service and be given as much love as she has for Ram and she recounted Ram’s virtues in a way revealing the divinity of Shri Ram.

Finishing her emotionally charged address towards Ram, Queen Sunayana grabbed feet of Shri Ram, her speech was lost as if it had sunk deep in the quagmire of love. Ram who had been listening to the affectionate address of His mother in-law, pleased and honored her in many ways. Ram asked for her leave with hands folded and bowed down reverentially many times before her and was blessed. Shri Ram and brothers once again paid respects and left the palace of Janak. All the queen mothers kept the pleasure giving and engaging persona of Shri Ram and His brothers in their heart but became weak due to excess of love and concern for them. Collecting themselves they called the princesses and the mothers then met with them many times while they repeatedly took them up to the door and brought back, all the while their love for them kept increasing in a big way. The friends who were going to be left behind also met individually with their just married friends displaying the kind of emotion a cow has for the calf.

It was a very emotionally charged atmosphere in the palace of Janak due to everyone feeling disturbed and heart-broken on account of impending separation from the most loved daughters of Janakpuri.

We covered upto Doha 336 of Balkand.

Parrots and Sarika (starling or mayna) which were reared by Sita and were kept in cages made of gold and were also taught to repeat some lessons (as these birds can reproduce speech like humans when trained) became restless and uttered words like ‘where is Vaidehi Sita’, who would not be impatient and edgy listening to such words. When the pets and birds became bewildered and puzzled like this who could tell the condition of humans up on being separated from a loved one like Sita. Around the time when Sita was to leave Janak and his brother came there, they both had tears of love coming out of eyes. When they glanced at Sita they lost their balance although Janak had been known to remain dispassionate in all conditions on account of deep spiritual understanding and realization of truth that world was just an illusion. King Janak took Sita in his arms and displayed weakness for her negating the real knowledge he had. All the ministers of Janak attempted to tell Janak that it was no occasion for him to show weakness of this kind as others would be upset all the more but King Janak still brought his daughter to his bosom time and again; then Janak asked for the well made and decorated palanquins for Sita and other brides.

Though the whole family was still under spell of emotions, King Janak made the princesses clime the palanquin remembering Lord Ganesh (the god who removes the obstacles) and his consort Siddhi as it was the auspicious time of the day for sending the daughters off.

We have now covered up to Doha 338 of Balkand.
