We covered up to Doha 2 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas and learned that king Dashrath while in his court took a mirror in his hands, out of his habit. The king found when looking at his own face that his hairs at the temples were now white and therefore decided to declare Shri Ram as the Crown Prince of Ayodhya. One fine day he went to his Guru to convey this in a happy mood.

King began to tell his Guru, “O the leader of Munis, please pay attention to what I have to say. Ram is now capable in every way. I have also noticed that our servants, the ministers and all the citizens of Ayodhya,  irrespective of the fact whether they be our enemies or friends or even neutral, all of them like Ram as much as I do. O My Master, your own blessings have appeared in the form of Shri Ram (king referred to the time when he wanted a son and Guru Vashishttha assured him that he will have and arranged for the Putra-Kaam Yagna to be performed). The Vipras along with families also have a feeling of tenderness and love towards him like you yourself have. I fully understand that those who keep the dust of their Guru’s feet on their head i e  care for what Guru says and does and follow it with respect, faith and unquestionably, do get all sorts of special rewards and fulfillment of desires, they command all types of riches. I have experienced this myself  in ways which none other could ever have experienced (he is referring to not only getting a son but four sons and that too like Ram and the rest who stand apart and are so capable and cultured, on another level also this is true, who else had Supreme God as his own son) and its all for worshiping the sacred dust of your feet. I have now developed another desire in my heart and hope that too would get fulfilled up on my getting such benign assurance from you, Master.”

Muni Vashittha noted with pleasure the innocent and natural love of the king and prompted him saying, “O King, you are competent and you may even pass a royal decree for what you want. You have such high name and reputation which ensures for all others what they want (even without your doing an effort for it) besides O Jewel among Kings, you have such great (spiritual) powers that your heart felt desires become fructified even without your so expressing.”

We have now covered up to Doha 3 of Ayodhya Kand.
