We covered up to Doha 3 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that King Dashrath conveyed to Guru Vashishttha that Shri Ram  is liked by all and is very competent in every respect and further said that those who keep dust of Guru’s feet on head have all that they wish to accomplish then expressed to have one more desire fulfilled. Guru Vashishtth reminded the king that he was himself very capable and grants favors to all others besides all the desires of the king become reality in normal course.

Knowing that Guru was pleased with him in every way, the king told the Guru with a just a bit of smile on his face but in soft tone, “O Master, today I beseech you to take steps to enable Shri Ram to take over as the young king of Ayodhya and tell me what arrangements should I do for it. I would love to see the celebratins connected with it while I am alive, I also wish to watch people of Ayodhya also while they savor the spectacle of such celebration. Lord Shiv’s graces saw all my ventures see success, what remains is this one desire that i wish to have fulfilled. After this I shall have no regrets when I live or when I reach the point of leaving the world. If this remains undone I shall regret too much that I didn’t discharge this duty.”

Listening to the gratifying words of king, Muni was delighted in heart since these were the words which were the root of all that’s auspicious and all that may give pleasure (as Muni knew that Ram i e the Supreme God as ruler of Ayodhya as well as of ones mind and heart will only bring about worldly pleasure as well as divine bliss). Muni now tried to disclose the real nature of Shri Ram (of which king was not mindful and just thought to Shri Ram to be his virtuous son, a competent heir to the throne) saying, “O King, those who are in opposition to Shri Ram meet a fate that only makes them suffer and repent, those who are not devoted to Him and do not remember Him fondly will not have the disturbance and heart-burn go away from their lives. You should be aware that the same Lord of all the universes has come down on earth as your son because Shri Ram only is affected by purity of heart and extent of love for Himself, there is nothing else that matters to Him.

“In this light, O King you must rush and get the arrangements afoot, as for the auspicious day only that is really auspicious when Shri Ram becomes the ruler of Ayodhya (i e the controller and the guide of the Bhakta’s heart).”

(Muni as Guru of the Raghus gave the king the ultimate knowledge and means to achieve the forth objective of a life lived well i e Moksha. Moksha is nothing but letting one self in hands of Lord without any desire of one own, this only brings the total peace of mind and while the mind is at peace it can remain joyful, the desire oriented agitations keep the peace of mind elusive.)

We have now covered up to Doha  4 of Ayodhya Kand.

  1. Excellent! Also It is short – to the point covering not too much at a time; which makes it very convenient to go through – wonderful. I hope you would go through the complete Ramayan.
