We covered up to Doha 5 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Mans of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that after obtaining Muni Vashishttha’s blessings the king called his people in administration and his servants. He then declared that Ram would be crowned as next ruler and asked of them whether they were in agreement with decision of his. All were thrilled to listen to this announcement from the king for they were themselves nursing this wish in their hearts. King Dashrath then asked all his men to go and organize for holding the event under guidance of Guru Vashishtth.

Muni Vashishtth was happy to give them first direction and it was to bring waters from all the sacred Tirthas (the holy places where people go for pilgrimage, of these the important ones are mostly near a lake or river. The water from Tirthas as well as from the surrounding seas are collected before the coronation of new king as an exercise that establishes that routes to such places are not blocked by other kings on the way hence their broader acceptance of the new regime. This ensures free movement for religious purposes and for trade). Then Muni wanted collection of the medicinal plants and roots, also flowers and fruits of various kinds which are auspicious and useful. Then all the other kind of paraphernalia suited to the occasion was ordered to be arranged including all varieties of items which would be needed for the coronation and for signifying the auspiciousness of the occasion. Whatever the Vedas prescribe all such procedures were explained by Muni. The city was to be decorated including putting up of tents and shelters, transplanting of trees like mango, Supari (arecanut) and Kadli was required to be done at suitable places all over, said the Muni. The markets and squares were to be beautified, worship of Ganesha and Kuldeva (the family deity) had to be performed and Brahmins were to be honored too, the Muni told. Flags, arches, emblem and pots were to be put in right places for decoration and the horses, elephants and the chariots were to be made ready was what Muni did not forget to tell. All those who were concerned went about their business keeping in mind what Muni Maharaj had said.
