We covered up to Doha 23 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Kaikeyi praised Manthara and told her that she was the one who really cared for her interests. Queen said that she would rely on Manthara entirely but could not understand that seeds for big troubled had been sown in her own mind. As advised by Manthara queen went in to the to room meant to be used by the angry member of the household, she had with her  all paraphernalia needed to display her anger. All in the city, who were merrymaking, remained  unaware of the deceptive ploy taking shape in the interiors of the palace and even the court-room activities were feverishly going on as an important event was being planned for to take place only the next morning as per announcement without an inkling about the development in side the palace where Kaikeyi lived.

Childhood friends of Shri Ram listened the news of His coronation with great interest and felt a big surge of joy in their hearts, forming teams they went up to Him. Shri Ram gave them honor and took note of their great love for Him; Shri Ram inquired of their welfare etc politely and with concern. Taking leave of their loved one the friends left for homes, on their way they discussed the virtues of Shri Rama appreciatively. They said, “who in the world might equal Shri Ram, the brave one in the family of Raghu, who has such civility and affectionate regard for friends. In whatever forms of life we get born in accordance with our Karma, we wish to be born as servants and our master should be Lord of Sita only (this means that they wanted that the Lord (Shri Ram) of Maya (Sita) would save them and Maya would spare them from distracting or keeping them engrossed in the world which results in binding Karma  which drags in to cycle of rebirth). This relationship may continue for ever (till the time we have exhausted the past Karma and become one with Supreme God i e Shri ram).”

All the citizens of Ayodhya also wished in the same way as the friends of Shri Ram wished but elsewhere the daughter of king of Kaikeya (who gave more weightage to worldly relations then to the relationship with God) had pangs of agony afflicting the heart. Its the company of evil minded that results in misfortune and distress in case of all who keep such company, no wisdom can be extracted out of the advice of a debased and a vile person.

It was now evening time when the king came to that part of palace where Kaikeyi was, it seemed like personified affection approaching the embodied cruelty (i e King Dashrath was love drenched because he had finally declared his dearest son to be the king and on the other side Kaikeyi was hell bent to bring obstacle in that regard, a very difficult situation for the king to face or withstand).

We have now covered up to Doha 24 of Ayodhya Kand.

Bhavani Shankar ki jai!

  1. One can only imagine how tragic would have been for Dashrath to face the cruelty of destiny through Kaikeyi; which is going to follow now.
Krishna jii, Thanks again for bringing this to us.
