We covered up to Doha 127 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Shri Ram told Muni Valmiki that He was happy and felt rewarded after meeting the great Muni and then wished to be guided by Muni about a place that He might stay at during the period of exile but where none of the Sadhus and seekers would be disturbed as He knew that those king who give trouble to such people harm themselves. He wished to live there very simply and only for limited time. Muni appreciated Shri Ram’s simplicity and said that it was only natural for Shri Ram to say so as He happens to be the one to uphold the principles enshrined in Vedas. Muni also told Shri Ram that he knew the reality of Shri Ram that He only is the Lord of Universe and Sita happens to be His inseparable Maya who is responsible for creation, existence and its disappearance as per His own will and the brother Lakshman is none other than Sheshnaag, the lord of all animate and inanimate objects of the world who keeps the earth stable on His fang and that He has taken avatar as a king of the world only to kill the army of demons. Muni also revealed that Shri Ram was that supreme being who can’t be defined in words or understood by intellect, who is present since ever and will ever be there and is referred by Vedas by negating the unreal for pointing out what is real which is not wholly describable.

Muni Valmiki further said to Shri Ram, “This visible world is Your creation, You make it appear and its constantly under Your watch, even Brahma, Vishnu and Shiv who are known to be its creator, its sustainer and its destroyer, are also under Your command and act out according to Your will, the ultimate reality of You remains not fully known to even them, who else than claim to know You in totality. The fact is that only a one knows You whom You Yourselves make it known (by Your grace, after his heart is totally pure and receptive) and after knowing the reality of Yours he does not remain separate as an identity but becomes Your own part (as in reality every being is). So, O Raghunandan Shri Ram, its Your grace that makes Your devotees know You (not their own efforts which only work to purify the hearts of them), You are that soothing and calming effect on the hearts of Your devotees (You are that fragrant balm that they apply on their troubled hearts after worshiping You i e keep their hearts attached with You).

“That Your body is entirely consciousness and bliss without any impurity or subject to aging etc (even while You appear in the human form) is the reality that only the competent and enlightened people who have kept company of saints and followed righteous path can grasp. They fully understand that You have assumed the form of a human body only for purpose of accomplishing tasks in interest of sages and the gods and You speak and act like a king of the world.

“O Ram, looking at Your wanderings and deeds and those who would listen to stories of Your life as Ram might confuse and puzzle the unintelligent people of fixed minds but would amuse and delight the ones who are intelligent and ponder. Truly what You speak and wish to do is right only because it only justifies that one puts a show before people according to the make-up and dress he dons on the stage of the world (in a way confirming that the roles natural to one birth and place should never be neglected).

“Coming to Your inquiry about where should You put up and stay, I first meekly wish to ask You to tell me where You are not already (i e You are omnipresent) only then I would be able to suggest where You might now go to logde.”

(Muni Valmiki, the first poet, was contemporary of Shri Ram, however he knew the reality of Shri Ram and keenly followed the course of Shri Ram’s life and covered in the epic called ‘Valmiki Ramayan’ in beautiful verses. Tulsidas has cautioned us already that historical aspect should not deter us in finding the deeper spiritual message out of Leelas of Shri Ram, Muni Valmiki also says here some thing like that.)

We have now covered up to Doha 127 of Ayodhya Kand.

Listening to the words of Muni which were laced with love for Shri Ram Himself, Shri Ram felt a bit of embarrassment but still smiled within (for Muni had spoken the truth about Him). Muni Valmiki then laughed but continued speaking in very sweet, nectar like, voice and said, “Ram, I would now tell You the abodes that can be used for Your stay along with Sita and Lakshman. The first one is the heart of someone whose ears are like an ocean in which the beautiful streams of Your Kathas continuously fall in to but still can’t make it overflow, it surely is Your nice house to stay in (Muni meant that the people who keep interest alive in Ram-Katha deserve to keep Ram, Sita and Lakshman in their hearts hence oblige them).

“The hearts of those are very much fit as the comfortable house where You might stay who have made their eyes like Chatak-bird that craves for a drop of water by looking with desire at the rain-cloud ignoring rivers and oceans of ordinary water as they also wish to have a glimpse of Your beauty for their satisfaction while ignore all that might be beautiful in the world to look at (Muni here wished Shri Ram to oblige those saints who do Tapa just to have the Darshan of Lord Shri Ram).

“Your famous Leelas are kept stored in their pure minds by some like pure water remains stored in Manasarovar lake and they pick some more interesting ones covering pristine virtues of Yours to be sung by them like the swan that picks beautiful pearls from the bed of the lake, in such peoples’ hearts You must dwell (Muni wished Shri Ram to oblige those who reflect on Ram-Kathas and pick Shri Ram’s glorious virtues to be sung by them as they too deserve to have Shri Ram in their hearts).

We have now covered up to Doha 128 of Ayodhya Kand.
