धन्य भूमि बन पंथ पहारा। जहँ जहँ नाथ पाउ तुम्ह धारा।।
धन्य बिहग मृग काननचारी। सफल जनम भए तुम्हहि निहारी।।
हम सब धन्य सहित परिवारा। दीख दरसु भरि नयन तुम्हारा।।
कीन्ह बासु भल ठाउँ बिचारी। इहाँ सकल रितु रहब सुखारी।।
हम सब भाँति करब सेवकाई। करि केहरि अहि बाघ बराई।।
बन बेहड़ गिरि कंदर खोहा। सब हमार प्रभु पग पग जोहा।।
तहँ तहँ तुम्हहि अहेर खेलाउब। सर निरझर जलठाउँ देखाउब।।
हम सेवक परिवार समेता। नाथ न सकुचब आयसु देता।।
दो0-बेद बचन मुनि मन अगम ते प्रभु करुना ऐन।
बचन किरातन्ह के सुनत जिमि पितु बालक बैन।।136।।

We covered up to Doha 136 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that the local people living the forest region where Shri Ram decided to settle came to meet Him and told Him that they considered themselves as well as the whole region along with the birds and the animals living there to be fortunate to be able to see Shri Ram and that Shri Ram would now be living in the midst of them. They also endorsed Shri Ram’s decision to select the place which will be good in all four seasons and offered to serve and show Him around; Shri Ram, The Supreme Lord who is not easy to be known or described, listened to their words with rapt attention like a father.

रामहि केवल प्रेमु पिआरा। जानि लेउ जो जाननिहारा।।
राम सकल बनचर तब तोषे। कहि मृदु बचन प्रेम परिपोषे।।
बिदा किए सिर नाइ सिधाए। प्रभु गुन कहत सुनत घर आए।।
एहि बिधि सिय समेत दोउ भाई। बसहिं बिपिन सुर मुनि सुखदाई।।
जब ते आइ रहे रघुनायकु। तब तें भयउ बनु मंगलदायकु।।
फूलहिं फलहिं बिटप बिधि नाना।।मंजु बलित बर बेलि बिताना।।
सुरतरु सरिस सुभायँ सुहाए। मनहुँ बिबुध बन परिहरि आए।।
गंज मंजुतर मधुकर श्रेनी। त्रिबिध बयारि बहइ सुख देनी।।
दो0-नीलकंठ कलकंठ सुक चातक चक्क चकोर।
भाँति भाँति बोलहिं बिहग श्रवन सुखद चित चोर।।137।।

In fact Ram, the Supreme Lord only cares for love, this is what is knowable for those who want to know (because Shri Ram is fully attentive to the innocent forest dwellers only on account of their pure love towards Himself, they have no other qualification). Shri Ram then pleased and reassured all the people who used to roam around the forest saying soft words while nursing them with His love. When Shri Ram asked them to go back, all of them bowed their heads down and left there and reached their homes but all along they talked of the virtues of Shri Ram (for while they had no occasion to listen to His virtues from any one so far, they had now identified some of His virtues by seeing Him in person hence had become competent to sing His virtues now).

In this manner the two brothers along with Sita lived in the forest, giving pleasure to all while they were committed to give pleasure to the Munis and the gods (by eliminating the demons). Since the time of arrival of Shri Ram the forest had become very benignly comfortable; many varieties of trees had flowered and alos had begun to bear fruits, beautiful creepers had wrapped them in way that made empty spaces covered under them to form canopies. It looked as if these trees, almost comparable to the celestial wish-yielding tree, were none other than the gods coming down from heavens, shunning their abodes and taking the the form of trees there. Beautiful humming bees swarmed there while fragrant and cool breeze blowing slowly over there was very pleasant too.

The mixed noise made by the notes of many varieties of birds singing there was very pleasant to hear and stole the hearts of the listeners (such was the effect of Shri Ram’s presence on the atmosphere).

केरि केहरि कपि कोल कुरंगा। बिगतबैर बिचरहिं सब संगा।।
फिरत अहेर राम छबि देखी। होहिं मुदित मृगबंद बिसेषी।।
बिबुध बिपिन जहँ लगि जग माहीं। देखि राम बनु सकल सिहाहीं।।
सुरसरि सरसइ दिनकर कन्या। मेकलसुता गोदावरि धन्या।।
सब सर सिंधु नदी नद नाना। मंदाकिनि कर करहिं बखाना।।
उदय अस्त गिरि अरु कैलासू। मंदर मेरु सकल सुरबासू।।
सैल हिमाचल आदिक जेते। चित्रकूट जसु गावहिं तेते।।
बिंधि मुदित मन सुखु न समाई। श्रम बिनु बिपुल बड़ाई पाई।।
दो0-चित्रकूट के बिहग मृग बेलि बिटप तृन जाति।
पुन्य पुंज सब धन्य अस कहहिं देव दिन राति।।138।।

The elephants, lions, monkeys, boars and antelopes etc which are not normally friendly to each other moved around together forgetting animosity. The deer moving in groups used to be enraptured in particular by the beauty of Shri Ram looking for preys in the jungles (i e they did not fear Shri Ram and rather wished to be killed by Shri Ram and anticipated to be emancipated and liberated from the cycle of birth; due to their non-harming nature it might be supposed that they were noble souls in their earlier lives and had occasion to be there before Shri Ram on account of their noble deeds, it is but natural for such beings to want to die while their beloved God was present right before their eyes and by His own hands).

All the forests that the gods might have created, the most beautiful ones, in the world were envious of the Ramvan (the forest where Ram was there). The sacred rivers like Ganga, Saraswati, the daugher of sun-god Yamuna, the daughter of Mount Mekal Narmada, the bless river Godavari and the rest of the ponds, oceans and rivers lauded the Mandakini as being the most sacred and blessed.

All the great mountains like Udayachal (from behind whom the sun rises), Astachal (behind whom the sun sets in evenings), the Mount Kailash (abode of Lord Shiv), Mandarachal and Mount Meru (where gods reside), the Himalayan range of mountains, all of which are special and stand tall were busy now praising the Chitrakoot. The deity of the Vindhychal range which is not known to have members as high as other mountains was happy to have become great among the mountains without any significant effort of his own part just because the Chitrakoot, a part of Vidhyachal range, was now rated highly because of presence of lord Shri Ram.

The flora and fauna of all varieties were rated to be most enriched by their noble deed of earlier times and births by the gods for their existing at mount Chitrakoot at a time when Lord Shri Ram came to stay there (every one of animate or inanimate beings was on Chitrakoot solely on strength of its noble deeds and righteous living in earlier lives, the gods knew it and therefore praised them wholeheartedly).
