केरि केहरि कपि कोल कुरंगा। बिगतबैर बिचरहिं सब संगा।।
फिरत अहेर राम छबि देखी। होहिं मुदित मृगबंद बिसेषी।।
बिबुध बिपिन जहँ लगि जग माहीं। देखि राम बनु सकल सिहाहीं।।
सुरसरि सरसइ दिनकर कन्या। मेकलसुता गोदावरि धन्या।।
सब सर सिंधु नदी नद नाना। मंदाकिनि कर करहिं बखाना।।
उदय अस्त गिरि अरु कैलासू। मंदर मेरु सकल सुरबासू।।
सैल हिमाचल आदिक जेते। चित्रकूट जसु गावहिं तेते।।
बिंधि मुदित मन सुखु न समाई। श्रम बिनु बिपुल बड़ाई पाई।।
दो0-चित्रकूट के बिहग मृग बेलि बिटप तृन जाति।
पुन्य पुंज सब धन्य अस कहहिं देव दिन राति।।138।।

We covered up to Doha 138 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that the animals inimical to one another were roaming around together in the jungle since Shri Ram came to stay on mount Chitrakoot; even when Shri Ram went in to jungle looking for preys, the deer moving in groups were not scared rather they felt attracted to Him. Even the woodlands and groves of the gods were envious of the Ramvan (the forest where Ram now stayed). All the sacred water bodies of the world spoke highly of the river Mandakini now. The various mountains and ranges that had connection to divinity now were singing praises of Chitrakoot, the deity of Vindhyachal range was happy that it had achieved a high status without much effort due to having Chitrakoot as its part. All the animal and plant species of Chitrakoot were considered to be having a lot of Punyas and hence were blessed to be there on Chitrakoot (it is implied here that even the plants have life and are subject to cycle of birth and death according to Karma, transgressing from and to animal species is also happens).

नयनवंत रघुबरहि बिलोकी। पाइ जनम फल होहिं बिसोकी।।
परसि चरन रज अचर सुखारी। भए परम पद के अधिकारी।।
सो बनु सैलु सुभायँ सुहावन। मंगलमय अति पावन पावन।।
महिमा कहिअ कवनि बिधि तासू। सुखसागर जहँ कीन्ह निवासू।।
पय पयोधि तजि अवध बिहाई। जहँ सिय लखनु रामु रहे आई।।
कहि न सकहिं सुषमा जसि कानन। जौं सत सहस होंहिं सहसानन।।
सो मैं बरनि कहौं बिधि केहीं। डाबर कमठ कि मंदर लेहीं।।
सेवहिं लखनु करम मन बानी। जाइ न सीलु सनेहु बखानी।।
दो0–छिनु छिनु लखि सिय राम पद जानि आपु पर नेहु।
करत न सपनेहुँ लखनु चितु बंधु मातु पतु गेहु।।139।।

Those who were lucky to have eyes were very happy to behold Raghubar Shri Ram, this was for them the reward for being born and used to make them forget pains in life, get above the pangs of living. The non-moving beings of the forest i e the organisms of vegetable kingdom felt happy after touching the dust of feet of Shri Ram and became worthy of the Parampad, the ultimate reward of spiritual undertakings i e of getting permanently established in the realm of God.

The mount Chitrakoot and the forest region on and around it now became gratifying and pleasure giving by their nature itself; these were now very propitious and were capable of imparting purity to the most sacred and pure. How it can ever be possible to explain the glory of such a place which the very ocean of bliss, Shri Ram Himself had decided to make His home; the Lord i e Shri Ram along with consort Lakshmi i e Sita and Sheshnaag, the serpant-god i e Lakshman had come to Awadh leaving Ksheer-Sagar (the ocean of milk where they stayed mostly) and now had left Awadh too, to come here and live.

The beauty and glow surrounding this forest, where Shri Ram, Sita and Lakshman were now present, is not possible to describe for even thousands of Sheshnaags who have a thousand mouths each to describe, in this light how is it possible for him to attempt it says Tulsidas; is it ever possible for a muddied turtle to carry a mountain as big Mandar on its back, he thinks.

Lakshman kept himself engaged in service of the Lord wholly, in deed, in thought and in speech; such was his congeniality and affection that can’t be described.

Lakshman used to keep his attention at the feet of Shri Ram and Sita at every passing moment and was aware of their affection for himsel. He never ever missed home or minded the absence of brothers, Bharat and Shatrughan, of the mother or the father, even in dreams.

(Those who devote themselves completely in service of the Lord in all possible ways, keep remembering Him and sing His praises at all times and have a firm belief that the Lord also loves as much His devotees love Him, do not feel disturbed or distraught when they lack any comforts or are away from their loved ones; for them there is no disappointment at any stage of life.)

We have now covered up to Doha 139 of Ayodhya Kand.

राम संग सिय रहति सुखारी। पुर परिजन गृह सुरति बिसारी।।
छिनु छिनु पिय बिधु बदनु निहारी। प्रमुदित मनहुँ चकोरकुमारी।।
नाह नेहु नित बढ़त बिलोकी। हरषित रहति दिवस जिमि कोकी।।
सिय मनु राम चरन अनुरागा। अवध सहस सम बनु प्रिय लागा।।
परनकुटी प्रिय प्रियतम संगा। प्रिय परिवारु कुरंग बिहंगा।।
सासु ससुर सम मुनितिय मुनिबर। असनु अमिअ सम कंद मूल फर।।
नाथ साथ साँथरी सुहाई। मयन सयन सय सम सुखदाई।।
लोकप होहिं बिलोकत जासू। तेहि कि मोहि सक बिषय बिलासू।।
दो0–सुमिरत रामहि तजहिं जन तृन सम बिषय बिलासु।
रामप्रिया जग जननि सिय कछु न आचरजु तासु।।140।।

Sita too was very happily living in company of Shri Ram, She also forgot the family members and the other citizens of Ayodhya and the comforts of home; She found pleasure in looking at the moon-like face of Her beloved Shri Ram as does the young Chakor bird by looking at the moon. She was particularly happy to note that Her Lord was loving Her ever more, in the same way as does the Chakrvak bird during the day time. Sita’s heart was so much in love for the feet of Shri Ram that She loved the forest region a thousand times more just because it offered Her total freedom to remain near Shri Ram and serve Him well. She liked Parnkuti i e the hutment because Her beloved was with Her there, She considered the birds and deer as members of Her own family, the consorts of Munis and the Munis were like parents-in-law for Her, the bulbs, roots and fruits tasted like tastiest preparations of food, the bed of straws was as much comfortable for Her as comfort of hundred beds of cupid because She shared it with Her Lord. It all was but natural that the luxuries and material pleasures could not be able to make Her distracted, She had such powers that She could make someone a strap or a sovereign king just by glancing in his direction.

Even a devotee of Shri Ram (when he remembers Him and surrenders before Him) is able to spurn and push aside the indulgence in material pleasures of the world, it is therefore no wonder for Sita to do it being the beloved of Shri Ram and the mother of the whole world.

(Those who love and are loved by the Lord develop such a bent of mind that it automatically loses interest in mundane pleasures. The taste of every thing in the world diminishes when consumed more and more while the pleasure drawn out of the love for Lord increases continuously in proportion to increase in love for Him; needless to say that the Lord reciprocates the feeling of love in a similar manner i e more one loves Him, more is one loved by Him.)
