We covered up to Doha 194 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that BHarat met Guha with intense feeling of love for him in his heart which every one present there appreciated wholeheartedly and the gods also proclaimed there approval and showered flowers from above. Guha though from a low caste, was taken in embrace by Bharat and why not when all those who even take Ram’s name while yawning find themselves purified of all past sins and in case of Guha, Shri Ram had brought him to His bosom and therefore Guha’s whole family and villages got sanctified besides himself. All are aware that Valmiki achieved an exalted status of being an equal to being a Brahmarshi by uttering with devotion Ram’s name even when he mistakenly reversing the order of letters of the name, no wonder therefore people from lowest order of humanity can become pure of heart and mind by taking Ram’s name.

It should not surprise anyone as Raghuveer Shri Ram has ingratiated and has raised up and refined people since ages. This is how gods concluded their proclamation of glory of Ram’s name and all the citizens of Ayodhya felt very pleased on that account. Having met Guha, the friend of Shri Ram with affection, Bharat inquired of his safety, welfare and comforts (as a prince should rightly keep concern with the welfare of subjects and sub-ordinates). Noticing Bharat’s affection for himself and the richness of his behavior, Guha became overwhelmed and forgot all else; first he was skeptic but now his heart was filled with affection and great pleasure, so much so that he just kept looking towards Bharat without blinking eyelids.

A little while later regaining patience he once again bowed down at feet of Bharat and submitted with hands folded, “the very root of my safety and welfare is that I have occasion to look at your lotus feet; now I consider that my security and welfare is ensured in all three states of time i e the past, the present and the future. With your supreme graces bestowed on me, my families in many past births have become blessed and of future births will be blessed and secured too..

“What is my family background and what kind of deeds I have always remained engaged in on one hand and see what is the extent of glorious disposition of Lord Shri Ram on the other that He has been kind to me, those who ponder over it in their heart would understand that those who do not worship the feet of Lord Shri Ram are only the ones who are in fact deprived in this world (the lack of comforts and lack of possessions do not really matter neither the membership of a high family is of importance really but devotion at Lord Shri Ram’s feet is, that only translates in to real benefit in ones life).”

We have now covered up to Doha 195 of Ayodhya Kand.

Guha further said to Bharat, “The people who are tricky, cowardly, wicked and low-born untouchables have been kept out of social order and don’t qualify to study Vedas, I happen to be one of them but since the time Shri Ram called me His own, treated me as someone his own, I have become an ornament of the world (i e have become acceptable and being honored).”

When Shatrughan, the younger brother of Bharat, noted the soft feelings of Guha and heard his humbly spoken appealing words, he too met him with pleasure. Nishad Guha then uttered his own name in very pleasing tone for benefit of the queen mothers and very respectfully paid his regards unto each one of them; they too blessed him knowing him to be like Lakshman (as Guha had been as prompt in serving Shri Ram as Lakshman) and said, “May you live with happiness for a long long time.”

The citizens of Ayodhya too felt as much pleased after seeing Nishad Guha as they would have after seeing Lakshman. They said this Nishada had really got the benefit of having lived, he had good fortune of meeting Shri Ram holding Him in his own arms; Nishad became happy to know that his fortune had been so good in eyes of even those who live in city of Shri Ram itself and then took all of them along with him back to his village. He summoned all his henchmen who promptly came forward and prepared resting places in side their homes, under the tree and near ponds, gardens and forests (to accommodate the large contingent of people accompanying Bharat).

We have now covered up to Doha 196 of Ayodhya Kand.
