सानुज सखा समेत मगन मन। बिसरे हरष सोक सुख दुख गन।।
पाहि नाथ कहि पाहि गोसाई। भूतल परे लकुट की नाई।।
बचन सपेम लखन पहिचाने। करत प्रनामु भरत जियँ जाने।।
बंधु सनेह सरस एहि ओरा। उत साहिब सेवा बस जोरा।।
मिलि न जाइ नहिं गुदरत बनई। सुकबि लखन मन की गति भनई।।
रहे राखि सेवा पर भारू। चढ़ी चंग जनु खैंच खेलारू।।
कहत सप्रेम नाइ महि माथा। भरत प्रनाम करत रघुनाथा।।
उठे रामु सुनि पेम अधीरा। कहुँ पट कहुँ निषंग धनु तीरा।।
दो0-बरबस लिए उठाइ उर लाए कृपानिधान।
भरत राम की मिलनि लखि बिसरे सबहि अपान।।240।।

We covered up to Doha 240 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Bharat, Shatrughan and Guha reached the precincts of Shri Ram’s ashram on mount Chitrkoot with their hearts totally engrossed in thought of Shri Ram and they now felt beyond any kind of pain or pleasure. Bharat fell down prostrating on ground before the Lord in spirit of total surrender and loudly asking for forgiveness. Lakshman noted that it was brother Bharat and became emotional himself but since he had been in service of the Lord he kept his composure and told Shri Ram about Bharat doing Pranam to Him. Shri Ram instantly responded by bringing Bharat up and taking him in embrace; Shri Ram was totally unmindful of the cloth and quiver tied to His waist and of bow and arrow, all of which fell hither thither. This sight made all others there forget themselves (there love for each other looked out of worldly to them).

मिलनि प्रीति किमि जाइ बखानी। कबिकुल अगम करम मन बानी।।
परम पेम पूरन दोउ भाई। मन बुधि चित अहमिति बिसराई।।
कहहु सुपेम प्रगट को करई। केहि छाया कबि मति अनुसरई।।
कबिहि अरथ आखर बलु साँचा। अनुहरि ताल गतिहि नटु नाचा।।
अगम सनेह भरत रघुबर को। जहँ न जाइ मनु बिधि हरि हर को।।
सो मैं कुमति कहौं केहि भाँती। बाज सुराग कि गाँडर ताँती।।
मिलनि बिलोकि भरत रघुबर की। सुरगन सभय धकधकी धरकी।।
समुझाए सुरगुरु जड़ जागे। बरषि प्रसून प्रसंसन लागे।।
दो0-मिलि सपेम रिपुसूदनहि केवटु भेंटेउ राम।
भूरि भायँ भेंटे भरत लछिमन करत प्रनाम।।241।।

The manner of union between the two, Shri Ram and Bharat, and the reflection of their intense love towards each other was such that it was not possible for even the hosts of poets and philosophers to describe it neither it could be enacted by action or fathomed by heart and mind. Both the brothers were filled with unworldly and deep love, so much so that it removed all distinction at the level of mind, memory, intellect or the self. When all distinction was removed who could then differentiate who was who, who was Jeev who was Brahman, who was Bhakta who was Bhagwaan; it was difficult for the intellect of any wiser person to identify one as separated from the other, they had become absolutely a single entity (this is the reality that Jeev and Brahman are one when the Jeev is bereft of any egoistic attitude, is of totally pure heart, craves for nothing of the world and goes beyond Mayic influence; the perceived veil of separation gets dropped and Atman gets merged with Paramatman).

A poet relies on the strength of the word and its meaning to describe, a dancer has ability to dance perfectly only when he is able to listen to the tune and takes steps in accordance but here the love between Shri Ram and Bharat is unfathomable by mind for the poet to reduce it in to words with right meaning and for the dancers also impossible to dance without being able to listen the music coming out it i e the sense of listening and power of thinking become redundant here; it is difficult for even the Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (who have created the world, sustain it and have the power to destroy it) to reach the depths of their love because its being beyond the world of creation.

(It has been indicated here that the five senses and Mana (mind), Buddhi (itellect), Chitta (the sub-conscious mind) and the Ahamkar (ego) have no capacity to understand the relationship of Jeev with Brahman, the ordinary human beings can’t perceive it through the above referred instruments of perception. Some who go beyond it all only have a glimpse and idea of this ultimate reality, prerequisite for it to be having absolutely no worldly desires and total mental quietude. Bharat and Shatrughan had achieved that status and were enjoying the company of Lord at the highest spiritual level.)

Tulsi here thinks within that it might never be possible for a dull-witted person like himself to attempt to cover it rightly, he compares it how a string of Gadar (a variety of wild grass) failing to bring out the right notes from an instrument of music.

At this stage the gods, upon looking at the meeting of Bharat with the great Raghu Shri Ram felt very disturbed and there hearts beat irregularly as a result; Braihapati, the Guru of gods then gave the bewildered gods the low down on what was indeed happening and now with dawn of understanding in their hearts they began to appreciate and praise what they saw and showered flowers.

भेंटेउ लखन ललकि लघु भाई। बहुरि निषादु लीन्ह उर लाई।।
पुनि मुनिगन दुहुँ भाइन्ह बंदे। अभिमत आसिष पाइ अनंदे।।
सानुज भरत उमगि अनुरागा। धरि सिर सिय पद पदुम परागा।।
पुनि पुनि करत प्रनाम उठाए। सिर कर कमल परसि बैठाए।।
सीयँ असीस दीन्हि मन माहीं। मगन सनेहँ देह सुधि नाहीं।।
सब बिधि सानुकूल लखि सीता। भे निसोच उर अपडर बीता।।
कोउ किछु कहइ न कोउ किछु पूँछा। प्रेम भरा मन निज गति छूँछा।।
तेहि अवसर केवटु धीरजु धरि। जोरि पानि बिनवत प्रनामु करि।।
दो0-नाथ साथ मुनिनाथ के मातु सकल पुर लोग।
सेवक सेनप सचिव सब आए बिकल बियोग।।242।।

Finding an opportune moment Lakshman eagerly and promptly met his younger brother Shtrughan, and later met old friend Guha bringing him to his bosom. Bharat and Shatrughan then respectfully met the Munis present there and were happy to receive the needed blessings from them. Feeling intense affection, Bharat and Shatrughan put the dust of lotus feet of Bhagwati Sita on their heads and bowed down before her with reverence time and again; Sita in turn put her lotus hand on their head to bless them and made them sit comfortably. Sita blessed them within her heart without uttering words for she had become too emotional on account of her affection towards them and had lost sense of body and control over faculty of speech.

When Bharat and Shatrughan observed Bhagwati Sita was favorably disposed towards them, they felt relieved and got over their unfounded fears. At this point none could speak any words nor could inquire the welfare of the other; their hearts overflowing with love also had adopted their own paces rather than throbbing normally.

Boatman Nishad Guha summoned some courage at this point and respectfully pleaded before Shri Ram saying, “O Lord, the mothers and all the citizens of Ayodhya have also come, they are with the great Muni Vashishtth; even the servants, the commanders of army and the ministers have come. They are all very distressed on account of being separated from you.”
