We covered up to Doha 242 of Ayodhya kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that the Shri Ram and Lakshman met brothers Bharat and Shatrughan as well Nishad Guha with utmost affection forgetting totally the world around them. Bharat and Shatrughan then met the Munis present there and got blessed. Bharat and Shatrughan respectfully bowed down at feet of Sita also who blessed them by placing her lotus hand over their heads but being emotionally overwhelmed she could not speak. Kevat found every one emotionally charged and therefore collected himself and informed Shri Ram that mothers, all citizens of Ayodhya, the Guru and ministers, heads of army and the servants also had come and were very distressed due to separation from their beloved Shri Ram.

Shri Ram, the most affable, took note of arrival of Guru Vashishtth and therefore wanted to see Him forthwith hence He asked Shatrughan to remain with Sita; known to all as patient by nature, most thorough in righteous behavior and very merciful towards the humble and weak, such Shri Ram then rushed immediately to be with His Guru (here Shri Ram demonstrated that seeing Guru is the top most priority as it is him who shows the right path and keeps guiding along the way, in absence of this it is likely that one takes a wrong path, wastes time and energy and faces many other problems).

As soon as Shri Ram and Lakshman saw Guru, both of them got overwhelmed with affection for him; Lord Shri Ram then prostrated before him lying straight and the great Muni responded quickly and brought Him close to his bosom, thus Muni met both brothers ardently and lovingly. Love drenched Kevat also came forward, announced his name and prostrated before Muni but from a distance; knowing him to be a friend of Shri Ram, Muni forced him to come closer and met him in a manner like he was collecting love from the place that was strewn with it thus confirming that devotion to Raghupati Shri Ram is the root of all welfare (i e Muni did confirm that a person’s relationship with the Lord makes him a worthy person and not his worldly status, in the eyes of great and learned people).

The gods appreciated what they saw from above and showered flowers and said none is as low was Kevat in the eyes of the world (in terms of his style of living, education and occupation) and there is hardly any one to equal Muni Vashishtth in knowledge, respect and piety but still Muni gladly met him with greater attention than he did while meeting Lakshman; this can’t be anything else other than the evident effect of the glorious devotion of Kevat towards Shri Ram, the Lord of Sita.

We have now covered up to Doha 243 of Ayodhya Kand.

Now the kindhearted Lord Shri Ram who knows everyone’s condition and mind reflected on how distressed were all the people who had come from Ayodhya and met with every one like they individually wished for meeting Him. Shri Ram and Lakshman finished the process of meeting everyone in a very short time as none could have waited for a longer time and mitigated their sufferings and removed their agony; it might not be considered as an impossible task for Shri Ram, He could do it like sun’s reflection can appear in all the pots of water simultaneously (Shri Ram belonged to the family of Sun and really is the dweller in every heart being Paramatmanam). The citizens also met Kevat with feeling of affection for him in their hearts and thanked their own fortune of having met him and appreciated Nishad’s luck.

Shri Ram found mothers sad and afflicted by grief, they resembled healthy creepers which had been bitten by frost. Shri Ram first of all met Kaikeyi satisfying her with his sincere and simple behavior making her feel restful and easy in her mind, he bowed down at her feet and only afterwards spoke to her about what misfortune had overtaken them but terming it as having been caused by the cycle of time, fated to happen like this and as per the design of Brahma, the creator.

Lastly he met the other mothers and consoled them with comforting words of wisdom saying “O Mother/s, this world is under command and control of Ishwar (the God) and therefore none can be blamed for what happens.”

(We can clearly see here that Kaikeyi’s mind was influenced by Saraswati under scheme of gods, it worked precisely as desired because of a combination of factors that had been already present and the time cycle did not permit return of Bharat to Ayodhya in good time, who could therefore be blamed. Whenever the happenings of the world are seen in this light one retains his balance and views the goings on in this mundane world with equanimity leaving no room for grieving or repentance.)

We have now covered up to Doha 244 of Ayodhya Kand.
