We covered up to Doha 259 of Ayodhya Knad in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Shri Ram was happy to know that Guru Vashishttha had great affection towards Bharat, Ram also knew Bharat was devoted to Him in every way and had knowledge about nuances of Dharma. Shri Ram, replying politely, keeping interest of all in mind and supportive of Muni’s thought, said that he knew there was none in the entire world like Bharat as a brother, those who have regard for Guru’s feet are praised by all but Bharat, whom Guru loved so much, is surely most fortunate. It was therefore only right to do according to wishes of Bharat. With these words Shri Ram became silent as a neutral observer. Muni then told Bharat to pour his heart out before his dear brother Shri Ram without being shy or skeptical (Guru meant that when its occasion to apprise the Lord about one’s desire there should be total openness and no reservation, the Lord loves frankness of the devotees).

Upon hearing Muni’s words and now being aware of inclination of Shri Ram, Bharat felt very assured of favorable disposition of both of them, as his Guru and as his Master and Lord towards himself. He also noted that a whole lot of burden of responsibility now rested on his own shoulders so he could not speak off hand (as a responsible person should not respond in light manner) and began to think seriously.

Not coming up with suitable response immediately, he stood up before the assembly of people unsteadily on account of emotional pressure on body; tears of love welled up in his lotus eyes before he said, “What I had to say has mostly been covered by the great Muni, nothing more can be added by me. I know very well the very nature of my Master, he does not show anger even on a person who is guilty (he meant that Lord never did any thing out of being angry, the Lord is as merciful as for any one else while dealing with a wrong doer). And in my own case, he has always been extra loving and overly merciful. Even when we played in our childhood, he never displayed any sort of irritation (Bharat meant that Shri Ram never had weakness of acting moodily like
the ordinary people, as Supreme Lord of Universe also he never has such weaknesses).

“I haven’t ever been without his company since early childhood nor ever preferred to be away from him at all and Shri Ram too never ever disregard to do as per my heart felt choices. My heart knows of the merciful ways of Shri Ram, he used to let me win when it was certain that i would lose in the games we played (Bharat meant Shri Ram has been so soft in heart for me that as younger brother he could not stand my getting disheartened; those who love the company of the Lord hardly face occasions to be disheartened, Lord ensures that they remain cheerful).

“My own love for Him, my modesty and discipline did not ever allow me to demand or speak anything absurd in His presence (how a true devotee behaves is to be learned here). My eyes however never been satisfied enough with His Darshan  (sight) till today, they seem to be thirsty for love too and merely having Him before eyes is not enough (Bharat told some thing which is not ordinarily understood, it is that the each sense might have interest in certain kind of feed i e sight for eyes, sound for ears etc but without dose of love real satisfaction is not possible for these senses. Connecting with through senses is alright but connecting through love is most needed.)”

We have now covered up to Doha 260 of Ayodhya Kand.
