We covered up to Doha 262 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that Bharat appreciated the fact of his father losing life when his son Shri Ram went away to prove his love for him and that it was his own mother’s machinations behind this separation while he only was at the root of it all. He said that he was unable to bear sight of the grieving mothers and agony of people and that he himself was very disturbed to see that Shri Ram, Sita and Lakshman had to leave for jungles without even their footwear on. Bharat felt his own love was too inferior in comparison to Nishad’s love (for Shri Ram) and that it was because his heart was almost like a stone as it could withstand such happenings and that he was destined to see and bear much more in life being the son of someone who nursed animosity towards people like Shri Ram, Sita and Lakshman who make even venomous creatures benign with their sight.

Listening to what Bharat said in his disturbed state of mind but which could still make them aware of his woefulness (desperation and dejection), his love, his humility and policy orientation. The entire body of people present there fell in to mood of despair as a result and it resembled a sight of bed of lotuses that were smitten by frost.

At this stage wise Muni told Bharat many old stories to placate his troubled mind in ways that covered complex situations and the methods to deal with them (as Muni knew that only hollow sermonizing would not work).

The scion of sun-dynasty Shri Ram, who used to amuse the family member in the same way as the moon makes the lilies smile in the nights ( i e Shri Ram who had bright personality always took care to deal with members in coolest manner even when circumstances were difficult) also addressed Bharat saying what was appropriate.

He said “O my younger brother, why do you feel disgraceful and suffer humiliation within your heart when you pretty well know that the destiny of Jeevas in only governed by the god. In all the worlds and ever in time whether it be past present or future, all those who are known to be very righteous and performer of noble deed, are poor examples in comparison to you. Just when one would see you in poor light and take you to be performer of evil acts, he is sure to lose his own reputation in this world and also destroy his chances in the next.

“Only those dull-witted would put any kind of blame on our mother who have never had occasion to serve Guru and the Sadhus.

“I am sure that in future just by remembering your name and thereby recalling how you lived your life, people will be able move away from all sinful activities and as a result will save themselves from carrying any burden of unwelcome existence or possible punishments on that account; they will only enjoy fame in this world now and will have all kinds of pleasures in afterlife.”

We have now covered up to Doha 263 of Ayodhya Kand.
