We covered up to Doha 274 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and learned that the people of Ayodhya prayed for Shri Ram’s rule over Ayodhya with intense love for Him and for it to last till the end of their lives. The Munis and the Gyanis considered their own stern practices of Yoga and dispassion etc inferior to this kind passion aimed at achieving salvation. These people had made it their daily practice to do Pranam to their beloved Shri Ram daily immediately after their morning routine; it was common among all classes of people who used to have Darshan of Shri Ram in their own way and were honored likewise by Shri Ram with due care and attention. The people praised their merciful Lord knowing that Shri Ram was benignly disposed towards them mindful of their respective positions and their love for Himself. They appreciated the uncomplicated character of the great Raghu Shri Ram who had most lovely face and eyes. Loving Shri Ram in this way they also thanked themselves for having done noble deeds some times in their past lives on account of which they had good fortune of having closeness with Shri Ram now. When all were enjoying their affectionate mood, they came to know of arrival of King Janak which prompted Shri Ram along with others to get up and receive him but with a sense of trepidation.

Raghunath Shri Ram went first ahead followed by His brothers, the ministers, Guru Vasgishttha and other citizens. King of Janakpur, head of clan known as Janakas, reverentially saluted the great mountain (known as Kamadgiri) as soon as he sighted it and got off his chariot. King Janak and others with him had been eager and yearned for having the glimpse of Shri Ram hence none felt any kind of stress or fatigue after journeying over the long distance. Their heart was with the great Raghu Shri Ram and Vaidehi Sita and when the mind was not with them how could they have been aware of the pains and comforts of the body i e they had risen above the body centeric thoughts, a natural outcome of placing attention to thought of Ram, the Lord of universe, and His inseparable power Vaidehi Sita. Totally engrossed in thoughts of love for Sita and Ram, Janak and his people kept progressing apace.

When the two parties (from Ayodhya and from Mithila) came near each other, they exchanged glances with love and began to meet with due respect individually. King Janak paid respects to the Muinis from Ayodhya and the scion of Raghu family Shri Ram respectfully received the Rishis who accompanied King Janak. Afterwards Shri Ram and His brothers met with King Janak and guided him and the congregation towards the Ashram on the hill.

Raghunath Shri Ram seemed to lead the stream of passionately sad people to His abode i e the Ashram that was like the ocean filled with pure water of quietude and peace and make them enjoy the similar calmness and serenity (where there is presence of the Lord, the absolute abundance of joy and peace has to be there and all who visit that place will also enjoy it in fullest measure losing all sadness like the water of streams merging in to ocean lose all its previous characteristics).

We have now covered up to Doha 275 of Ayodhya kand.
