This is further to Doha 3 of Ayodhya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas which we covered in the last post.

Muni Attri began to sing the attributes of Shri Ram in his prayer and said:

“I bow down to Shri Ram who holds His Bhaktas very dear, who is very graceful, soft and sedate.

“I adore lotus feet of Shri Ram who grants to those who expect nothing, His own abode (which the most desirable thing and most difficult to get for those who remain mired in pleasures of mundane and temporary things).

“Your complexion is bluish-grey which is attractive and beautiful, You only are the Mandara mountain with which to churn the ocean of being, i e this vast world (and get best of it).

“Your eyes are like full blown lotus and You remove ego centric faults of Your admirers and followers.

“Your long arms are strong and can do miracles and Your glorious influence is not measurable.

“You, the Lord of Trilok (three worlds) hold quiver, bow and arrows (with which to punish demons and which symbolizes that Your scepter rules over all three worlds).

“You have glorified the Sun’s family by taking birth as of one of them (as Ramavatar) and You are the one who broke the formidable bow of Lord Shiv (which represented collective ego of the world).

“You delight the hearts of Munis and Saints and You have committed to destroy the army of demons who are enemies of the gods for their sake.

“Lord Shiv, the enemy of Kaam Dev (cupid), adores and appreciates You and Brahma along with other gods remain eager to serve You.

“Your form is nothing but the concentration of pure consciousness and is capable of destroying all kinds of sinful defects (by its influence on the devotees).

“I bow down to Lord of Godesse Indira (Lakshmi) i e Lord Vishnu who is provider of all bliss and ensures deliverance of saintly people (Muni knew that Shri Ram and Bhagwati Sita only are known as Vishnu and Lakshmi too).

“I cherish You along with Your inseparable power Bhagwati Sita and younger brother Lakshman. I also adore You as Lord Vaman (an avatar of Lord), who was born as younger brother of Indra, the husband of Shachi, to mother Aditi.

“Those who do not have jealousy towards others and worship the sole of Your feet with calm mind, they do not sink in the the turbulent ocean of the rebirth.

“Those who live in solitude and remember You constantly with an happy state of mind for liberation while keeping control over their senses do get to attain the desirable goal of self-realization.

“You are very special and only one of Your kind, Lord and master of all without any desire of Your own and are all-powerful and pervade all over.

“You are the teacher and guide of the entire world and are eternal, visualized only in state (known as Turiyavastha) beyond the three states (waking, dreaming and deep sleep) known as Turiyavastha.

“I pray to You as one most dear to me in my thoughts and mind. You are not available to those who try to reach You by practices that have no sanction in Vedas.

“To Your own devotees You are that divine tree that can yield any thing desired, however, You are always neutral towards all alike and You are very easy to serve i e devotion to You does not require any torturous regime of practice.

“You as King have attractiveness and hold matchless charm, I bow down to You O Lord of Sita, the daughter of earth. Be pleased with me, I do Pranam to You and please grant me devotion for Your own lotus feet.

“Those who would recite these stanzas of prayers with reverence will surely achieve nearness to Your feet and will remain devoted to You as well.”

दो0-बिनती करि मुनि नाइ सिरु कह कर जोरि बहोरि।
