सुनहु प्रिया ब्रत रुचिर सुसीला। मैं कछु करबि ललित नरलीला।।
तुम्ह पावक महुँ करहु निवासा। जौ लगि करौं निसाचर नासा।।
जबहिं राम सब कहा बखानी। प्रभु पद धरि हियँ अनल समानी।।
निज प्रतिबिंब राखि तहँ सीता। तैसइ सील रुप सुबिनीता।।
लछिमनहूँ यह मरमु न जाना। जो कछु चरित रचा भगवाना।।
दसमुख गयउ जहाँ मारीचा। नाइ माथ स्वारथ रत नीचा।।
नवनि नीच कै अति दुखदाई। जिमि अंकुस धनु उरग बिलाई।।
भयदायक खल कै प्रिय बानी। जिमि अकाल के कुसुम भवानी।।
दो0-करि पूजा मारीच तब सादर पूछी बात।
कवन हेतु मन ब्यग्र अति अकसर आयहु तात।।24।।

This is further to Doha 23 of Aranya Kand in Ramchrit Manas of Tulsidas which covered in the last post.

Shri Ram told Sita,”Listen My Dear, you are very cultured and always inclined to follow the right path, you also astutely engage yourself in upholding your resolve, which is the very call of your heart too (i e it was resolve to never doubt her Lord’s word and do what He wishes). I want to do some thing by way of interesting acts as a human. You may now reside in fire and stay there till I have accomplished the task of annihilating the evil night-roaming demons.” Shri Ram further explained to Sita what He intended to do which Sita appreciated and placing the feet of the Lord in Her heart She entered fire and left Her own reflection in a form which was exactly like Her in looks and in manners and of the same congeniality in her disposition (so much so that none could make out that it was not Sita but her reflection). Lakshman could not also have an inkling about what Shri Ram, the God, had planned as future course of action and nor had idea about secret disappearance of Sita (the Supreme Lord of Universe is not obliged to reveal all to even His closest deities, not even to one as close as Lakshman whose recoiled form is the permanent bed for Him resting on in the milky-ocean; if we humans too wonder about His plans its OK but we should never forget that He always intends to do what is best for each one of us).

On the other side, ten headed Ravan reached near Mareech and bowed his head down before him like people of selfish and of wicked nature mostly do to realize their goals (i e show false modesty before someone who is lower in status to use them as means to achieve their objective). Out of turn show of humility by bad people is as bad or as dangerous as the bending of Ankush (iron rod with three pointed pricks to control elephants), the bow, the snake and the cat which is for only for attacking and hurting. The villain’s pleasant talk instills fear in minds who know them, as flowering when its not the season and flowering in midst of drought in the wild is supposed to be a signal for trouble in the offing.

Mareech, as was wont for him, welcomed Ravan by offering things and then asked with due respect what had brought him there; he posed questions wondering why Ravan seemed so mentally upset and what had made him come rushing to him.
