II Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram II

We covered up to Doha 25 of Aranya Kand  in the last post and this is further to it.

Mareech, who had become aware of the fact that Shri Ram was none other than the Supreme Lord in human form, further told Ravan, “Keeping in mind the welfare of the whole family (as you must being the head of the clan), you must return (and drop all your plans to harm Shri Ram and Sita).”

The sane advice of Mareech enraged Ravan and he began to vehemently abuse Mareech and later said, “You fool, you are preaching me like a Guru, tell me who is as good a warrior as me in the whole world (he had in mind the same logic that none of humans can kill me and if Shri Ram is not really a human but is God Himself then it was not a loss to embrace death at His hand).”

Mareech then weighed the pros and cons relying on the logic that there are nine types of people contradicting whom no interest of self can be served or welfare ensured; they being an armed person, some one privy to secret, a capable master, a stubborn and stupid person, an owner of asset that is needed and/or a rich person, a doctor, an eulogist, a cook and an expert. Mareech saw his death in both situations (contradicting Ravan or assuming a false form to misguide) and with this view in mind he sought shelter of Shri Ram, the leader of Raghus. He thought as soon as he would give no as an answer he would be killed as a luckless person by some one who has run out of his own luck; why not therefore prepare to be killed by an arrow of Shri Ram, the master of Raghus. With this determination he left accompanied by Ravan but with unwavering love for the feet of Shri Ram. Mareech was now immensely happy but concealed this fact from Ravan; his heart was upbeat about the possibility of eyeing his most beloved who would not miss to love him back like wise (as the one who has surrendered to the Lord should be looked at by Him).

Mareech thought, “I would be blessed and most happy to have a look at my most beloved Lord by making good use of my own two eyes; I will have occasion to keep the image of the merciful one (Shri Ram) along with His younger brother Lakshman and Bhagwati Sita in my heart. Heis the one whose pleasure is the real cause behind anyone getting liberated, even His wrath surely converts one in to a devotee of Him (like he himself had become); the same very Lord, an ocean of bliss, would be releasing an arrow placed on His bow held in His own hands and would kill me.”

(Those who develop the insight like Mareech come to appreciate the real reason behind whatever happens in their lives and for them occasional bad turns in life do not remain a cause of anxiety, the life and death are seen as happening in accordance with the will of the Lord.)

We have now covered up to Doha 26 of Aranya Kand.
