We covered up to Doha 29 of Aranya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post, this is further to it.

Shri Ram saw His younger brother Lakshman approaching Him in the jungle and got very worried, though just a show (because for the Lord there can be nothing worrisome but as an avatar in human form he has to act like a human), and said, “seems you have left Sita alone back there and have come here defying my instructions to you. You must be aware that groups of demons are roaming in the forest; I have a feeling that Sita is now not in the Ashram.”

Lakshman, now worried himself, grabbed the lotus feet of Shri Ram and with palms joined he replied, “Lord, I carry no blame for this (harsh words of Sita had compelled him).”

Even after very limited reply Shri Ram did not inquire further implying His deep understanding of brother’s attitude, and He left there to go to His ashram near the bank of river Godavari to check whether Sita was there still (Shri Ram knew that a situation that has already come up cant’t be reversed by mere discussion).

Finding that ashram was with out any trace of Sita being there, Shri Ram became very upset, much like an ordinary helpless mortal of the world and exclaimed, “Haa, Janki, Haa Sita, you were a mine of good qualities, you have been very perfect in respect of your beauty, conduct and very pious because of your Vrutas (austerities) and Niyams (regularity in prescribed practices), what might have made you disappear from the ashram.”

Lakshman tried to console his brother in many ways but without success. Shri Ram went about asking even the creepers, trees and leaves about Sita (displaying how a possible calamity concerning a dear one might cheat one of reason).

“That various birds, various fruits, various flowers, various animals and snakes and various instruments related to gods (that are likened in beauty to limbs of a beautiful woman for some specific quality but are found to be insufficient by poets while describing beauty of Bhagwati Sita) now have no fear of competition from a formidable competitor like You, O Janki Sita, after Your disappearance and are as happy as one would be after regaining lost kingdom. How can you bear such an unwelcome situation, why don’t you show yourself up, O Darling,” Shri Ram, the Lord, lamented thus and looked for Sita like deeply anguished lust oriented person who is separated from his beloved companion. Though Shri Ram, as Lord of all, is always satisfied lacking nothing, missing nothing and remains a treasure of bliss and entirely blissful Himself yet He, the unborn and deathless Lord, was busy enacting like ordinary humans when they meet such unwelcome situation in life.

Going ahead Shri Ram noted the king of vultures lying wounded on ground who had been remembering the feet of the Lord with various marks and signs on the soles (the Lord is believed to be having 24 marks on left feet and 24 marks on right feet that signify what Lord stands for). Abundantly kind and merciful Raghuveer Shri Ram obliged by placing lotus hand over the head of Jatayu who had now lost all His pain after looking at the most charming face of Shri Ram.

We have now covered up to Doha 30 of Aranya Kand.
