We covered up to Doha 32 of Aranya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Raghunath Shri Ram, has a very sensitive and tender heart and is always inclined to shower mercies on the helpless and humble, even though there be no compulsion or an apparent reason for it. The vulture, an unclean bird whose food was the meat of dead animals, received the best reward expected up on culmination of life (by the grace of the Lord) which is always wished for by the Yogis (for which they live a pious life of Tapa and Tyaga i e penance and sacrifice).

Lord Shiv told Parvati while telling her the story of Ram, “Uma (Parvati), listen carefully; they are verily ill-fated who develop liking for objects of sense gratification and abandon God-orientation.”

The two brothers then became engaged in finding Sita by thoroughly searching forest after forest which were dense and abounded in birds and animals including elephants and lions. While roaming the forest they encountered a demon known as Kabandh who was promptly slain by them. Kabhandh related the whole story of his being cursed by Rishi Durwasa and that the sin that was the reason behind his being curse became extinct after he was able to look at the feet of the Lord. The Lord told Kabandh (who was once a member of Gandharv community, the community of singers and dancers) that He could never tolerate any one remaining alive who had done harm to the Brahmins i e those who engage in pursuit of discovering Brahman i e knowing the God and therefore the Kabandha also had to see end of his life.

The Lord also told him, “those who renders services to the Bhusur (the gods on earth) i e the Brahmins, through thought, word and action without deceit and cunning, are the ones who win the favor of Brahma, the creator and Shiv, the highest among gods, including   me (the Supreme Lord).”

(All are not born with capacity or understanding which would put them on path leading to God, but they have choice to render services to other evolved souls who tread that path and refrain from putting obstacles in their path and by doing this much they may well become dear to the Lord and other gods.)

We have now covered up to Doha 33 of Aranya Kand.
