We covered up to Doha 36 of Aranya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Shri Ram moved on, leaving behind the forest where He had met Shabari. Both brothers had immense power and strength and were like lions among humans i e none could challenge them but Shri Ram, the Lord, began to lament like someone suffering pangs of separation from his loved one. He related stories of such people while talking to Lakshman. He said, Lakshman, just see the beauty and charm of the forest, would not anyone be shaken and stirred in heart by looking at it. All, including animals and birds, seem to have their female partners with them; besides they seem to be ridiculing me. The males in group of deers wish to run away from me whom their female partners reassure to be fearless and enjoy referring that I only would be after a golden deer while they have been given birth by an ordinary deer mother.

(This is how Lord indicated that trouble awaits them who go for illusory pursuit of glamorous opulence while those who wish to lead a normal life have no fear and have all kind of joys available to them)

Shri Ram further told, “The elephants are bringing their female partner closer like they wish to teach a lesson (about the need to not leave the partner alone). I have known that books of knowledge should be referred to time and again for refreshing what has been learned by heart, that a king though served with due attention and care should still not be considered as satisfied and amiable and that a young lady might be kept in heart by remembering her all the time yet she can’t be supposed to be safe if is not under physical safeguard (but I have failed to practice the same).

“O Taat (Dear Younger Brother), just look at the alluring spread of beautiful spring all around but it is instilling only fear in my mind in absence of my beloved (Sita).

“The cupid is creating havoc together with forest, bees and birds thinking that I am alone and am smitten by pangs of love in separation and have become almost powerless because of it.

“Though Cupid i e Kaamdev has got wind of my being with brother yet it has captured my mind with its army because it is known to be born in mind while being without having physical limbs (and another person therefore is really of no help in curbing its onslaught).”

We have now covered up to Doha 37 of Aranya Kand.
