We covered up to Doha 37 of Aranya Kand in Ramharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last pots, this is further to it.

Shri Ram continued, “The big trees and entanglement of creepers over them have created a complex of covered enclosures, the palm trees and banana plants look like poles holding banners, only those with burly heart can escape being influenced after seeing them. Many kinds of flowering trees look like an arrayed army of soldiers holding arms, some other beautiful trees here and there seem like scattered warriors.

“The noisy cuckoos represent elephants, long necked birds represent camels, wild crows represent ponies, parrots its trained horses and swans its special horses, many other small game birds its foot soldiers, such is the army of numerous wings of cupid which is beyond description.

“The rocks and mountains are its chariots, the water-falls its drums, the Chatak birds its bards that sing praises, the humming bees its trumpets, the air that is cool, fragrant and blowing slowly is like his messenger and stately representative; the lord of love is roaming about with his four winged army, ready to battle and defeat one and all.

“Lakshman, you must know that those who remain cool, composed and collevted even when viewing  such army of cupid are the ones who might be called as patient and reserved, the cupid has a formidable force in shape of femininity, whoever can overcome this kind of lure may only stake claim to be a strong warrior that matters.

“O Taat, there are three phenomenal evils, Kaam (lust, desire), Krodh (anger and aggression) and Lobh (greed and covetousness); these have capacity to capture, puzzle and distract the minds of even the Munis that have acquired vast knowledge, in just a moment.

“The greed works through huge unfulfilled desire, the lust draws its strength through interest in attractive femininity in the world and the anger gets served by harsh hurting words, this is what the Munis have declared after giving it considerable thought.”

We have now covered up to Doha 38 of Aranya Kand.
