We covered up to Doha 38 of Aranya Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Lord Shiv tells Uma, “Ram, Lord of all the beings, is basically beyond the Gunas (modes) and is omniscient, He only brought to light the kind of weakness the lustful people suffer from; By this He also reinforced the firmness in hearts of balanced and courageous people who do not fall prey to such weaknesses. Anger, desire, greed, intemperance and influence of Maya are only possible to be defeated and done away with when Shri Ram helps one with His grace. The one who has the patronage of the master of the tricky game naturally remains unaffected by the delusive impact of it (i e Master of Maya, the Supreme Lord only can save from falling prey to it).

“Uma, I would tell you what I have learned through my own experience and that is that the whole visible and experienced world is nothing more than a dream while to remain centered on the Lord by remembering Him and praising Him leads to understanding of the essence behind it all.”

The Lord reached the shores of the great lake Pumpasar that had depth as well as purity and beauty. Its water was as pure as the heart of a saint i e absolutely transparent with out any floating dirt. It had beautiful steps on all four sides to reach its water and thus facilitated many kinds of animals drank its water crowding it like the beggars thronging the gate of a generous person.

The lake was concealed behind thick vegetation and therefore it was difficult to know of its existence and worth, similar to the difficulty is identifying Nirgun Brahman, the attributeless Lord, behind the cover of Maya (even though it only is the cause behind the whole gamut of world that is enjoyed through senses).

In the deep water of the lake all the fishes enjoyed pleasures of similar kind (as the water there had no turbulence just like those who follow their Dharma (prescribed duties and religious practices) live through days after days with comfort and enjoyment (as such practices keep them away from problems in the mundane world and also in the realm of spirituality).

We have now covered up to Doha 39 of Aranya Kand.
