We covered up to Doha 5 of Kishkindha Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

Both sides, i e side of Ram and side of Sugreev, developed a bond of friendship and affection for each other keeping nothing a secret between them (friends should not keep any thing concealed from each other for a lasting friendship). Lakshman told all about what Shri Ram had accomplished and gone through. Sugreev felt grieved knowing it and his eyes became full of tears and he told reassuringly, “O Master, Sita, the daughter of King of Mithila, will surely be found (a friend’s first duty is to reassure the other friend in distress, friendship is not for receiving favors but is for extending help).

“Once i was sitting worriedly here along with my assistants to discuss matters with them when i noticed Sita being carried away by force through the sky; she was lamenting and crying badly and was calling out ‘Ram, Ram, Ha Ram’. When she saw us sitting down here, she dropped off a piece of cloth.”

Listening to Sugreev say so, Shri Ram asked him to promptly show the piece of cloth to him; when Shri Ram had that cloth in hand he could make out that it belonged to Sita and touched his bosom with it and felt a surge of disturbing emotion about her plight.

Sugreev now felt is necessary to again reassure Shri Ram and told, “O Ram, you are the brave one among Raghus, you must stop worrying and should regain your composure and be patient. I am there to serve you in every possible way that should reunite you with Sita.”

When Shri Ram listened to friend Sugreev say so, the one who is Himself an ocean of mercy and is extremely strong felt delighted (it is more important to appreciate the friend extending his hand for help rather than assess what is his ability to help, a weak person living in exile and under fear of someone can never be seen as big help but that didn’t matter with Shri Ram, what mattered to him is his willingness). Shri Ram then expressed his concern for plight of Sugreev and asked, “Sugreev, tell me what compels you to live in the forest.”

(On a spiritual level, a Jeeva promising to help the Lord in distress is laughable because the Almighty Lord is never in distress and secondly Jeeva can accomplish nothing unless it the will of the Lord, but the Lord appreciates if the Jeeva shows willingness to serve Him.)

We have now covered up to Doha 5 of Kishkindha Kand.
