We covered up to Doha 16 of Kishkindha Kand in Ramcharit Manas of Tulsidas in the last post and this is further to it.

When the rainy season came to an end and autumn arrived, Shri Ram told Lakshman, “Lakshman, the lovely autumn has arrived and there is growth of Kaasa grass all over, its white flowers are signaling that rainy season is old. With rise of Agastya (a constellation) in the sky, the water logging the tracks has dried up in the same way as contentment finishes greed. The water in rivers and ponds is now as clean and pure as the heart of a saint without traces of Mad and Moha (arrogance and delusion). Slowly water in ponds has begun to dry up and in rivers its receding like the possessive tendencies of the insightful and knowledgeable get weakened over time.

“That autumn has arrived, the Khanjan birds have arrived too in the same way as when the time is right the noble deeds of past bear fruit in form of good fortune. The earth looks beautiful as it is bereft of mud as well as of dust in same way as the its shines on account of actions of a righteous and policy oriented king. With dropping water level the fishes have become uncomfortable in the same way as an unintelligent householders feels distressed when he has little wealth (as if only wealth keeps his life going and the provider for the family is only him i e he suffers like one who has no faith in graces of Almighty).

“The sky now without clouds is looking pristine and beautiful like a Bhakta of Lord Hari who has shed all worldly expectations. It does rain a little in some selected pockets like only a few deserving attain my Bhakti.

“Now its also the time when the kings (for winning expeditions), the seekers (for quiet living in jungles), the merchants (for selling and procuring goods) and the vagabond (for begging) leave happily their cities and towns like any one in either of the four Ashramas (Brahmcharya,Grihast, Vanprasth or Sanyas) stop sticking strenuously to any kind of regime after attainment of Bhakti of Lord Hari (i e for Haribhaktas, attachment to the body or home becomes unnecessary).”

We have now covered up to Doha 16 of Kishkindha Kand.
